Redhat 9.0 linux, installed under VMware virtual machines, has three ways to achieve Internet access, bridging, Nat, Host-only. Originally want to use bridge way, can always because of configuration network problems and can not surf the internet, but also the sygate4.5 (proxy Server Software) to install configuration is useless. No way, or to configure with NAT, Virtual machine Linux under the NAT network configuration and I use the Windows XP3 is not the same, Linux to use NAT Internet also need to make additional settings, tried n many times, finally found that I put Linux DNS configuration wrong, really want to cry ah, This little mistake wasted so much of my time. No nonsense, let's talk about my operation steps first.
(The premise, the VM chooses the NAT way to surf the net, this installs the time to be possible to set up, of course installs after also can modify)

1. My Network Places-Properties-you can see that there are two more network connections after you install the VM virtual machine

(Vmnet1 is host-only, that is, the choice of Vmnet1 is equivalent to VMware provides you with a virtual switch, only the virtual machine and the real system, virtual machines can share files with the real system, but the virtual machine cannot access the external Internet, And Vmnet8 is NAT, is the network address translation, equivalent to give you a virtual switch, the virtual machine and the real system connected up, while the virtual switch and the external Internet connection, so that the virtual machine and real system can be shared with each other, but also access to the external Internet, And the virtual machine is borrowed from the real system IP Internet, will not be constrained by ip-mac binding. )

Right-click Vmnet8-Property-TCP/IP Protocol

-Double click to open-tick use the following IP address,
Change the IP address to 192.168.132 (this is your own number within 1-224). 1/255.255.255.0 gateway and DNS are not set, click OK.

2. Open VM virtual machine, click Edit-Virtual network settings at the top left of the-nat

The DNS of the virtual machine is the gateway IP address 192.168.132.2 here, this vmnet8 equivalent to the gateway in the LAN. Take this address down.

3. Edit-Virtual network Settings-host virtual network mapping, in the Vmnet0 dropdown box check your network card, the rest of the general default.

4. Back to the win host, start-run-cmd, open dos, enter the command Ipconfig/all, you can see the relevant IP configuration, remember well.

5. Enter the Linux system in VM Virtual machine, main Menu-System settings-network-tick the following device eth0-to enter the Ethernet device editing status

Tick the statically set IP address to set the address to and VMNET8 the IP address of a network segment: 192.168.132.X subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 default gateway: The IP address of the VMnet8 above: 192.168.132.2.
DNS is also set to 192.168.132.2
