Laptops are now particularly popular, both outdoors and indoors, especially outdoors, where laptops are powered by batteries. For a long time, we will find that the battery's endurance is not as long as the beginning, before it can be used for 3 hours, now only 2.5 hours of endurance. What's going on?
Shorter endurance, not a problem with the battery itself.
For batteries that use less than 1 years, the duration of the battery is shortened, often not because of the normal aging of the battery, but because of the battery charging and discharging during many times, the notebook BIOS system has misjudged the battery charge. The battery also has a certain amount of power, but the BIOS mistakenly believe that the battery is depleted, so that the computer forcibly shutdown. If there is such a loss of battery time, first of all, do not be busy to conclude that the battery quality problem, but through the "battery correction" This simple way to allow the remaining power to fully play out.
How to do "Battery correction"
There are more than one method of battery correction, usually in three ways: using the battery correction program in the BIOS, manual battery correction, and using a third-party battery correction software. This is mainly about the previous two correction methods.
Tip: It is not recommended to use third party battery correction software. As for the reason, the first need to install Third-party software, not the first two methods simple; second, the principle behind the correction is similar, Third-party software does not have much original place, but also there are potential security risks. Therefore, it is not recommended to use third party software in the case where the battery correction can be done through the previous two methods.
Standard correction method: Battery correction function in bios of notebook
Many brands of laptops in their bios are integrated with the battery calibration procedures, the general English version is called "Battery calibration", that is, "battery power proofing." Direct access to the BIOS will be able to complete the battery correction operation, here, Asus notebook as an example, simple to say how to operate, other books, similar mode of operation.
Step 1: Boot, appear after the boot screen press "F2" into the BIOS menu, through the left and right arrow keys, choose to enter the Power menu.
Step 2: Enter the Power menu to see the "Start Battery calibration" option (Figure 1), select it and press ENTER to perform.
As shown above, select the battery correction program
Step 3: The screen will turn blue, and there are English prompts to plug the laptop's power adapter to recharge the battery. When the battery charge is full, the screen prompts the user to disconnect the power adapter (Figure 2). After that, the laptop starts to keep discharging the battery until the battery is exhausted.
Figure 2 following the on-screen prompts
Step 4: This process takes a period of time, after the battery is exhausted and automatically shut down, then connect the power adapter to the battery charge, but do not boot. After the charge is complete (the charging indicator is off), the battery calibration process is completed.
Comment: This operation is the official battery correction method, the whole process needs about 4-5 hours, more time-consuming. If you find that your laptop battery does not take long, such as a few months, the time is not as good as the original, and the BIOS with this function, it is recommended to implement.
Cottage Correction Method: Let the laptop boot natural Discharge
Some notebooks, how to find in the BIOS can not find the battery correction options. Can't this kind of notebook be able to do battery calibration? In fact, we can use the "cottage version" of the battery correction method to operate on it. The reason is called "cottage", because this is not the official method, but through some of our manual settings, so that the computer in the normal operation of the discharge until the automatic shutdown.
Tips: "Cottage version" of the principle of battery correction
On the surface, the battery is calibrated to charge and discharge the battery, but its purpose is not to activate the battery as we think it is, because the current laptop battery is lithium battery, there is no activation problem. The real purpose of charging and discharging is to let the computer recognize the capacity of the battery again. So, to try to put the electricity clean, so that the laptop work in a small power, so that the effect of the correction is good.
Here are some necessary steps for manual battery correction.
Step 1: In the operating system (for example, in Windows XP), go to power options. Select power Scheme as open and turn off monitor, turn off hard drive to the shortest time, and system standby to "never" (figure below).
Figure 3 Setting Power Options
Step 2: In the "Power Options" alert, cancel all alert options (below) to completely drain the battery until the shutdown.
Figure 4 Canceling the battery alarm function
Step 3: After Setup, close all applications, turn off WiFi, unplug the power adapter, and use battery power. Do nothing until you run out of the battery and turn it off automatically. This process is estimated to be longer and may be several hours. After discharging, connect the power adapter, fill the battery, then complete a battery correction.
Comments: After the correction, try to test the battery's endurance time has increased, if not obvious, you can follow the above method again, but do not recommend regular. If the battery has a longer use time, and do the battery correction, the effect is not obvious, it may be the life of the battery itself naturally aging. In addition, battery correction is not recommended if the laptop battery is running normally.
