Templates in office are grouped into two categories:

(1) System wizards and templates. The default installation is C:Program FilesMicrosoft officetemplates ... 2 folder, the extension is Wiz (wizard) and dot (template).

(2) User-defined templates. The storage location varies depending on the version of Windows. Windows 2000/NT/XP users, under the C:documents and Settingsadministratorapplication datamicrosofttemplates folder, if you are using Windows 9x/Me , the template is placed under the C:windowsapplication Datamicrosofttemplates folder.

2. Ready-made templates lined up for standby

Office itself prepared a lot of beautiful templates, go to "file → new", the window on the right will appear the new File window task grid, click on the "template on the machine" under the template, rich templates have been categorized.

For example, in Word, there are several categories of commonly used, Web pages, reports, memos, publications, other files, letters and Faxes, English wizard templates, etc. (see Figure 1, Figure 2), click the appropriate label to open, there are some descriptive information, can easily preview. Select the template you want, and make sure that you can open a new file that has been applied to the template. Some templates also open a wizard window that requires you to set some parameters.

Tip: Are these templates not satisfactory? Make your own modifications so that it is more in line with the requirements! For example, select the elegant letter in the Letters and Faxes category, in turn, fill in the appropriate location of the "Company Name", "title", "name" and other information, and finally save as a "file template" type, and the default saved in the Template folder, later in this template library is more than the template of their own modified.

See the good template, hurriedly save. Select file → Save As, select Document template in the Save as type Drop-down box, and enter the file name to save to the default template folder. As soon as you select "file → new", you can see the template in the "general" template tag, just a collection of templates, double-click it to use.

Tip: Word and Excel are saved as "document Templates", in ppt, you can save your presentation as a presentation design template, and the new template will appear alphabetically in the Slide Design task pane for use the next time you open the PPT.

4. Right-click to quickly create a personalized Word template

Enter the c:documents and Settings Username Templates folder, right-click in the margin, and select new →microsoft Word document to create a new Word file Winword8.doc. Double-click Winword.doc, and then make some personalized settings for the font, glyph, page size, and so on, and save the file. After you right-click in Explorer, choose New →microsoft Word Document, and then double-click the new document, you will find that it has applied our settings in Winword8.doc so that we can use our own character Word. If you don't need too many templates, or if you think you have too many templates installed, open "Explorer", go to the user-defined Templates folder, and then delete the appropriate template files.

Tips: Excel and PPT are similar, the former named Excel9.xls, the latter named Pwrpnt10.pot.
