OpenVPN (bridging mode) experiment in UbuntuServer10.04

As a VPN, I always wanted to build an experimental environment close to the production environment. I don't remember that one day I went online and saw someone using Dynamips and VMware to do experiments, this is a good method, so we use this method for VPN experiments. I used the Full2 Dynamips of Rupe to simulate two CISCO routers, and used VMwareWorkstation7.0 to simulate the OpenVPN server and client. If I want to add a firewall, I can consider putting monowall (also open-source ).

As a VPN, I always wanted to build an experimental environment close to the production environment. I don't remember that one day I went online and saw someone using Dynamips and VMware to do experiments, this is a good method, so we use this method for VPN experiments. I used the Full2 Dynamips of Rupe to simulate two CISCO routers. I used VMware Workstation 7.0 to simulate the OpenVPN server and client. If I want to add a firewall, you can consider putting monowall (which is also open-source and free, and can also be installed in vmware workstation), just capable of simulating the birth environment. I didn't add a firewall here, which is equivalent to putting the Openvpn server in the DMZ zone, the topology of the experiment is as follows:

1. Set up the experiment environment:

(1) Use Dynamips to simulate two cisco routers, configure the IP address on port f0/0, and configure the corresponding default route.

(2) VMware Workstation one install Ubuntu server 10.04, OpenVPN simulation server; one install XP, openvpn-2.0.9-gui-1.0.3-install simulation VPN Client, IP is shown in the topology.

1.1 added VMware Network Adapter VMnet3 and VMnet2

After VMware Workstation 7.0 is installed, there are three VMware Network adapters by default. VMnet0 is used to bridge to the physical Nic, VMware Network Adapter VMnet1 is host-only, and VMware Network Adapter VMnet8 is nat. Therefore, we need to add two VMware Network adapters.

Step 1

Step 2

After completing the preceding two steps, two VMware Network adapters will be added to the instance. VMnet2 sets the IP address to 192.168.5.32, The subnet mask to 255.255.255.0, The VMnet3 IPaddress to 192.168.4.31, And the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0.

1.2 Dynamips Configuration

WinPcap_4_1_2 should be installed for Windows 7 systems. If Dynamips is installed and used, no more. Nic parameters must be used to modify Dynamips net files. Therefore, you must obtain the NIC parameters of vmnet2 and vmnet3.

In the setup directory of Dynamips, there is a file to modify the NIC parameters. cmd.

Enter the NIC parameters corresponding to vmnet2 and vmnet3 in notepad, modify the ccna_stad.net file, and make the following changes:

Connect Port f0/0 of router R1 to VMnet3, and port f0/0 of router R2 to vmnet2. Configure the f0/0 IP address and the default route on router R1 and R2 respectively.

At this point, the experiment environment is complete.
