Solution
Symptom description: An unknown device with a question mark cannot drive the device in the Device Manager.
Double-click an unknown device to view the properties:
Solution: Confirm that the system is Windows XP and Service Pack 2 is installed. Otherwise, install Service Pack 2 first.
- Double-click an unknown device to view its properties and click "reinstall Driver (I.
- Select "No, temporarily not (T)", and then click Next.
- Select "Install from list or specified location (advanced) (S)" and click Next.
- Select "do not search. Select the driver to install (D). click Next.
- Select "system devices" in the hardware Update Wizard, and then click Next.
- In the hardware Update Wizard, select "(standard system device)" in the left-side window (vendor), and then in the right window (model) find and double-click the "PCI standard ISA bridge" option: (after the update driver warning is displayed, click yes)
- The device driver will be added, and the prompt for this unknown device in Device Manager will disappear, and a PCI standard ISA bridge will be added to the system device.
