Symptom description: An unknown device with a question mark cannot drive the device in the Device Manager.

Double-click an unknown device to view the properties:

Solution: Confirm that the system is Windows XP and Service Pack 2 is installed. Otherwise, install Service Pack 2 first.

1. Double-click an unknown device to view its properties and click "reinstall Driver (I.

2. Select "No, temporarily not (T)", and then click Next.

3. Select "Install from list or specified location (advanced) (S)" and click Next.

4. Select "do not search. Select the driver to install (D). click Next.

5. Select "system devices" in the hardware Update Wizard, and then click Next.

6. In the hardware Update Wizard, select "(standard system device)" in the left-side window (vendor), and then in the right window (model) find and double-click the "PCI standard ISA bridge" option: (after the update driver warning is displayed, click yes)

7. The device driver will be added, and the prompt for this unknown device in Device Manager will disappear, and a PCI standard ISA bridge will be added to the system device.
