Select the Edit menu, move the mouse pointer over preferences, and click File Processing on the Pop-up submenu to open the Preferences dialog box. As shown in the following illustration:
1. File Storage options
Image preview: Whether to save the preview thumbnail of the image when the image is stored. Includes 3 options, such as the total no storage, always store and store queries. The default is always to store. The storage preview will increase the size of the image accordingly, but it is helpful for previewing the image content.
File name extension: Sets the case for storing image extensions. This includes using lowercase and using uppercase. Usually lowercase extensions are used.
Store to original folder: Save to original folder. Select to determine the default folder for the Save As option.
Background storage: Default option.
Automatic storage recovery information interval: defaults to 10 minutes.
2. File compatibility
Camera Raw Preferences: by clicking this button, you can open the Camera Raw Preferences dialog box and make detailed settings for Camera raw preferences, such as how to handle DNG, JPEG, and TIFF files.
First use Adobe Camera Raw for supported raw data files: Select this, and the supported raw data files will be processed using Adobe Camera raw open first. The camera raw data file contains data from a digital camera image sensor that is not processed and compressed, and information about how to capture images. Photoshop Camera Raw software interprets the camera's raw data file, which uses information about the camera and image metadata to build and process color images.
Ignore EXIF Profile Tags: Select this option to omit the EXIF profile tag about the color space of the image when saving the file.
Ignore rotation metadata: This item is not selected by default.
Ask before storing a layered TIFF file: When you save a layered file, if it is stored in TIFF format, you are asked if the dialog box appears. Selecting this item will appear with the Query dialog box.
Deactivate PSD and PSB file compression: Whether to stop compression of PSD and PSB files.
Maximum compatible PSD and PSB files: You can set the storage PSD and PSB files to improve file compatibility. Choose "Always", you can store a composite version of a layer image in a file that other applications will be able to read, select "Ask", and the store will pop up a dialog box asking if you want to maximize compatibility, and choose "Always not" to store the document without increasing compatibility.
Enable version Cue: The version Cue workgroup is enabled.
The list of recent files contains: Set the File menu, the number of files that can be saved in the recently opened file Drop-down list.
