Tutorial from the Dutch Photoshop master Jennifer Cirpici, teaches you how to combine abstract elements with surreal effects of photos.
Jennifer said it was the first time she had combined the two styles, but wanted to try it out just to see what the results would be like.
Final effect:
1th Step
We want to create a warm summer abstract landscape, so look for a pasture with bright colors in the background. There may be some mountain backgrounds, but it is certain that some of the green grass is in the foreground.
We will also need the color plate to build our abstract elements. To create the colors used, there are already a lot of stocks inside (using the Eyedropper tool).
Save this as a layered psd file.
2nd Step
Let's open illustrator and your PSD file. Each color uses the eyedropper tool (I) in turn, and then click the New Swatch button to create a new Swatch swatch on the swatches panel.
Create some eddies with the pen tool (P). Make sure that the more you extend to the back, the more detailed it will look.
3rd Step
As you can see there is nothing special about it, but it will be greatly improved once we get into one of the funniest parts: coloring. Each eddy in turn, from a color
Apply a gradient to another color. Make sure that the colors you use complement each other, or the end result will be annoying.
4th step
Apply a radial gradient with a swirl of white, the color is so bright. In order to build a more depth, create some smooth gradient of the circle, the size and brightness of the circle should be proportional,
They are positioned from left to right, so they are easy to blend into the background.
5th step
Deletes the background layer, leaving only the abstract elements. Hidden circles in the foreground, we will blur them in Photoshop, so we'll make them separate. Now save the file,
Go back to Photoshop and choose "File >" to place files into Photoshop, so it's a single layer that replicates your location from illustrator.
6th step
You will find that there is a tiny pixel line around the abstract element. So we're going to remove, select vector layer and hit layer > grid layer, then layer > Fade > Go edge with 1 pixel value
Back to illustrator and unhide the circle before we hide. Copy and paste into Photoshop and blur blur > Gaussian blur. The closer they are, the more they are given to you.
The more blurred you should apply to give the depth of the look.
7th step
Realize the perfect look to your composition with three key elements: brightness and contrast, color, lighting and shading. hit the top of the first tier stack,
Add a brightness/contrast adjustment layer from the adjustments panel, just play with it until it looks more dynamic. Add a color balance adjustment layer and set it again randomly until it looks richer.
8th Step
Now to the lights and shadows. Use the Brush tool (B) to set a black color and multiply the blending mode, the back of the circle, the end of the circle and draw some shadows on the ground.
The sun and the nearby whirlpool add some light effects, by creating some small white circles and giving them a mixed mode of soft light
9th step
Create a new layer and fill it with black. Use the Gradient tool (G) to create a new black and white radial gradient white center You think the focus should be in this case,
Place of the sun. Set this layer of blending mode to soft light and reduce opacity to 30%.
10th Step
Added to a natural, summer feeling, I added some butterflies to a piece. You can download these free from bit.ly/l3dd4h Bit.ly/lqskuo. Don't forget to add a shadow,
Like us, I also added some birds. Be creative and add anything that makes you feel like summer.
11th Step
The right side is a little space, so follow step 2-9 to add another different gradient, another circle and Butterfly vortex. Make sure it has lighting and shading, and give the circle a little blur to the bottom right.
12th Step
Create another new layer, fill the black, then go to the render > Cloud, repeat
three times. Set blending mode for lighten drop opacity to 90%. This gives it a little more texture for a better composite.
13th step
You should change the color at the last minute, which is a final touch. I gave it a little more orange to make the sunlight look stronger, fused and whirlpool.
14th Step
Sometimes I flip or spin to smash because I think the ingredient is too obvious. You get a whole new look and get a chance to fix some bugs that you haven't seen before.
Flip the work horizontally.
15th step
Now the vortex on the left looks a little strange, so this layer flips and approaches it to move to other eddies.
Create some glass fragments in the illustrator. You can make them easily with the correct angle, by creating a shape using a white gradient and then in the middle of the white gradient.
Paste them into Photoshop and the appropriate location.
Since this piece is almost finished, we can add a refractive effect to each glass fragment. Use the Magic Wand (W) to select the area, the background elements behind each glass, copy and paste this,
Then select "Image > Application image to limit its glass and make it use Edit > Transform > Zoom."
I also added a spark of light to the top of the glass fragment.
Final effect!
