General

Let's start with some general tips. no matter what you do with PS, this will benefit your work efficiency.

File size and size

In my work, the most commonly used file format is PSD. to ensure Image compatibility, Adobe limits the size of the PSD file to a maximum of 2 GB.

If the PS starts to slow down, the file size is the first thing worth checking. The little master is too fat and will not run. please pay attention to the weight of the Little Master in time!

If each screen of your application is in the same psd, the file size can be quickly determined, especially when you start to add a layer combination. Since Photoshop CC 14.2, we have applied the "link to smart objects" feature more. These functions can split your application into some combined files, which reduces a lot of trouble during the long-term update process. I have already started to use these methods in my work. This not only makes the PS process very easy, but also allows me to design every screen of the application more flexibly.

Adobe also sets some restrictions for other file types: no file can be greater than 300,000x300,000 pixels; PDF my file cannot be greater than 10 GB. However, you do not need to worry about using Photoshop's large document format, because the file size is limited to 4 EB.

What is EB? Simply put:

1024 TB = 1 PB;

1024PB = 1EB.

Efficiency Indicator

There is a very easy way to know how many system resources are used by the PSD you are editing.

There is an indicator in the lower left corner of the PS work area to display various information about the files opened in the current work area. By default, "File Size" is displayed. you can see the words "12.5 M/M. Click "" on the right to change the displayed information, including "efficiency", as you like.

Cache disk

When the system memory is insufficient, the cache disk provides a temporary cache space for PS. Therefore, the faster the disk speed, the better. Ideally, it should be a solid state disk. We recommend that you set a cache disk so that your PS can run smoothly.

Graphics processor settings

Properly Using a Graphics Processor can improve the PS performance. check the performance settings window to make sure that "Using a Graphics Processor" is selected.

Click "Advanced Settings" on the GPU Settings panel. There are three options and descriptions of the advantages and disadvantages of the options. you can select the options that meet your needs. There is a drawing mode in the "advanced" settings, which is best suited to me. if you feel that the software is not running smoothly during drawing, try other settings.
