According to foreign media reports, Softpedia published a group of Linux mint 9 (codenamed Isadora) RC versions on Wednesday. The final version is expected to be available to the public within weeks.
By convention, based on the latest Ubuntu 10.04 LTS operating system, Linux mint 9 is equipped with the same Linux kernel 2.6.32.11 kernel and X. Org 7.4, and supports EXT4 file systems. The startup speed is faster. The desktop version will have three years of technical support service and five years of support from the server version. The first regions include the United States and Japan.
In addition, the software center can provide up to 30000 software, with many improvements including new backup/restoration tools, advanced Mini menus, Windows style installation process, and new themes. As the RC phase is still in progress, feature finalization and troubleshooting are in progress.
