There is a phenomenon in process improvement: there are many projects in the Organization, but only the projects that participate in the formal evaluation are carried out in strict accordance with the cmme system, other projects are basically not implemented in this system. This is the case when an enterprise receives a Level 2 evaluation. This is the case when the enterprise receives a Level 3 evaluation, and the Level 4-5 Evaluation is still the case. The system is not promoted in the Organization at all, but within a short period of time for some projects.
Process improvement should be a kind of enterprise culture change. The improvement of partial project projects limited to a period of time cannot form the enterprise culture change. This process improvement fails, it is hard to see the results.
Of course, the driving force behind this phenomenon is whether enterprises need certificates or effectiveness.
Based on the purpose of paying equal attention to certificates and effectiveness, feasible implementation strategies are as follows:
(1) depth first, succeeded in improving local projects ------> (2) width first, succeeded in extending local improvement to global improvement ------> (3) depth first, achieve greater improvement in a local project ------> (4) width first, and extend the local improvement to the global improvement success.
An enterprise should perform a formal evaluation of the cmme after each successful width priority so that it can reflect the real capability level. The preceding policy can be described as follows:
(1) local pilot success ------> (2) Global Promotion success -----> (3) Evaluation ------> (4) cycle to (1)
If we only focus on depth first, but ignore width first, and ignore global promotion success, the consequences will be nothing more:
(1) personnel engaged in process improvement are tired, because the enterprise culture has not undergone any changes, the foundation is too thin, and the resistance is high;
(2) Water is high and ineffective;
(3) It cannot be sustained and will soon fall back to its original level after evaluation.
Depth first is a means, and width first is fundamental!
