R400 install the official atigraphics card driver published on 2009/10/03 on Ubuntu 9.04By Harry. 0 comments
Because the previous HP notebook suddenly crashed, he changed his teeth to a ThinkPad r400, but his video card was ATI radeon HD 3470. before buying it, he worried about the driver problem in Ubuntu. As a result, it turned around .....
After Ubuntu 9.04 is installed, the system enables open-source drivers by default. Everything works well and compiz is enabled normally. Later, the restricted driver is activated and the result is restarted, after the official driver is uninstalled in the recovery mode according to the method on the Internet, compiz can no longer be enabled. glxgears only has a poor FPs of over 200.
After a period of time, I finally started to make another effort today, and the results were handled. Haha
I mainly refer to two Tutorials:
How to install the graphics card driver in Ubuntu)
Solution to enable compiz latency on Ubuntu 9.04
The installation of the driver is mainly based on the first article. Because I install the driver directly in the restricted drive, I do not need to manually download and install the driver or perform other steps. Do not restart the driver after installation.
sudo aticonfig --initial -fsudo aticonfig --input=/etc/X11/xorg.conf --tls=1
I guess the figure above is because I didn't execute these two commands? After restart, compiz can be enabled, and glxgears has around FPS.
However, there is a significant delay in some effects such as maximization. See article 2.
