Article Title: Red Hat uses identity and system management to push Linux automation solutions. Linux is a technology channel of the IT lab in China. Includes basic categories such as desktop applications, Linux system management, kernel research, embedded systems, and open source.
Recently, RedHat announced that it provides a wider range of capabilities to achieve security management for users and systems in virtual and physical enterprise infrastructure, and through wider community participation, to expand the company's Linux automation strategy.
Its security product line has been extended through the launch of Red Hat Enterprise Identity, policy and audit (IPA) products, as well as the accelerated enhancement of system management promoted by the community through the opening of the Red Hat Network satellite code library, redHat aims to extend the administrator's control permissions and improve the efficiency of users in an IT environment that requires an increasing number of users.
Katrinka McCallum, vice president of management and security business at RedHat, said: "To enable physical and virtual infrastructure to access any application anytime, anywhere, this requires that users, systems, and applications be managed in an integrated and secure manner. As the IT environment changes, resources are dynamically allocated and users need to closely integrate control systems to efficiently access systems and services. With Red Hat management and security solutions across operating systems, virtualization, grid framework, middleware and SOA, redhat is rapidly promoting Linux automation ."
Enhanced identity management solution
At present, RedHat announced the launch of the RedHat Enterprise IPA and purchased code library-related technologies from Identyx, an open-source identity integration service provider. The Red Hat Enterprise IPA solution meets customers' requirements for cost reduction and operational efficiency improvement, and ensures compliance with regulations, risk control, and business implementation. With Enterprise IPA, RedHat provides centralized identity management, single login service, high availability directory service, and easy-to-use access control framework and LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) synchronization between Microsoft's Active Directory and other databases. Customers will be able to benefit from multiple aspects, including cost saving, regulatory compliance, easy management, and avoiding dependency on a single supplier.
The Identyx code library enables Red Hat Enterprise IPA to provide virtual directory services, allowing enterprises to learn identity information from multiple sources in a unified view, such as LDAP and NIS (network information system), Active Directory, and database. Red Hat customers can now use virtual directories with synchronization capabilities to provide a simple path for NIS transplantation.
Use the "customer technology" system management solution of the community
Adhering to its consistent commitment to the open-source development model, RedHat announced the release of the RHN Satellite code library, which was implemented through the GPLv2 license and Project Spacewalk. RHN Satellite is a system management solution of RedHat, allowing customers to manage Red Hat Enterprise Linux content updates within its firewall, including system grouping permissions and scheduling. This solution also performs system configuration, update, and monitoring across physical and virtual servers.
With the launch of the RHN Satellite code library, RedHat has enhanced its ability to integrate new open-source management projects into the future product and solution roadmap. It includes some open-source management projects, such as Cobbler and Koan that implement monitoring management, and the configuration management project Puppet. In addition, Cobbler, Koan, and Puppet projects have been adopted by many customers of RedHat.
Roy Haverman, Alstom's Linux system administrator, said: "Cobbler enables us to set up physical and virtual servers in a few minutes, providing us with great help in dynamic servers and workstation environments. Cobbler's flexible launch template system allows us to uniformly deploy a large number of systems with different architectures, thus saving a lot of time ."
