Redhat 6.6 MySQL 5.1 upgrade to 5.6 steps


Note: The rpm-u upgrade from MySQL 5.1 cannot be installed to MySQL 5.6, you need to remove mysql-libs before rpm-i installation


Need to uninstall Mysql-libs first, or will error: file/usr/share/man/man1/my_print_defaults.1.gz from install of mysql-server-5.6.24-1.el6.x86_ Conflicts with file from the package mysql-5.1.73-3.el6_5.x86_64



# Yum Remove Mysql-libs (will remove Mysql-libs, Cronie, Cronie-anacron, Crontabs, Perl-dbd-mysql, MySQL, Msyql-server, Postfix, Sysstat


# rpm-i mysql-server-5.6.24-1.el6.x86_64.rpm


# rpm-i mysql-shared-5.6.24-1.el6.x86_64.rpm


# rpm-i mysql-client-5.6.24-1.el6.x86_64.rpm


# service MySQL Start
