In fact, some large data projects in Windows XP occupy several hundred MB of capacity. You only need to delete them a moment and then use the highest proportion of ghost compression function, you can put the Windows XP Professional with the sp1a patch into a CD. We assume that you reinstall the Windows XP operating system and only install the sp1a patch to delete files.

I. Delete useless Windows XP Projects

Windows XP stores useless information, including system restoration, sleep, and virtual memory. You only need to delete them as follows to save space.

1. The system restore itself regularly backs up data on the computer for the user to choose an earlier location to recover to a good state when there is a problem. This will consume a certain amount of hard disk space, so you can remove this function first.

Choose Start> set> Control Panel> system restore, and deselect the previous check item "turn off System Restore on All Drives.
2. The sleep function stores data in the memory to the hard disk and shuts down. After the computer has recovered from its sleep state, it can immediately return to its original running state. This function reserves several hundred MB space (depending on the disk capacity). You can disable it before making a ghost image.

The method is as follows: Go to "start"> "set"> "Control Panel"> "power options"> "Sleep", and deselect "enable sleep" here.
3. In terms of virtual memory, Windows XP requires a hard disk capacity that doubles the memory by default for data exchange, which is the most space-consuming place, after you close the image, the size of the created image file is greatly reduced. During restoration, we recommend that you restart it to "system management size" to avoid performance degradation caused by the absence of virtual memory on your computer.

The method is: choose "start"> "Control Panel"> "system"> "advanced"> "performance"> "set"> "advanced"> "Virtual Memory"> "change ", click "No paging file"> "set" (Figure 3 ). Restart the computer once, And the pagefile. SYS file in the system will be automatically deleted.

1. Use the Windows 98boot boot drive to enter the DOS mode, and then enter the directory where ghost.exe is located and enter the following commands:
