The registry holds a variety of parameters that directly control the startup of Windows, the loading of hardware drivers, and the running parameters of some Windows applications. If the registry is compromised, the light will cause the Windows system to run abnormally, which can cause the entire system to become paralyzed. Therefore, it is necessary for Windows users to master the backup and restore skills of the registry.
(1) Back up the whole registry
Click the start → run menu item and enter "Regedit" in the Run dialog box. Open Registry Editor When you click OK, and if you want to back up the entire registry, select the registry root (that is, the My Computer node), right-click, select Export, and open the Export Registry File dialog box, enter the name of the registry file and the saved path in the File name box, and click the Save button. The registry backup file name extension is Reg.
(2) Registry restore
If you can successfully enter the Windows graphical interface, you can double-click the above backup of the reg file to restore the registry to the state of the backup.
When you are unable to enter the Windows graphical interface, you can insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into the CD drive, boot from the CD, press R to start the Recovery Console after you enter Setup, and follow the on-screen prompts to log on to Windows XP, and the system, Sam, in the repair directory , software, security, default five files to the \System32\Config directory, the registry will revert to the initial state of the system when it was first installed, and after restarting into the Windows XP system, import the previously backed up registry files into the system. The system can revert to the state at the time of the backup of the registry.
B, hardware driver backup restore
New hardware drivers are likely to be unstable after installation, in addition, the hardware-driven installation of the system when the workload is quite large, backup to the driver can avoid these unnecessary problems. In the former case, we can use the system's own driver recovery function to restore the driver, in the latter case can only use software for backup, such as the Mydrivers Drive Wizard.
(1) The system's own driver recovery function
Click the start → Control Panel menu item, double-click the System icon in the dialog box that appears, open the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, click the Device Manager button, and open the Device Manager dialog box. In the hardware list in the dialog box, double-click the hardware device you want to restore the driver to, and then click the Driver tab in the Properties dialog box for the device that appears, and then click the Return Driver button to restore the driver to its original driver.
(2) using the Mydrivers driver to back up the driver
Run "Drive Wizard", click the "backup driver → search for backup Driver" menu command in the program window and select the driver you want to back up in the list of hardware drivers listed, choose a directory to save the driver backup file, and click the "Start Backup" button to perform the backup operation.
The driver restore can be done after the system reload, run the Drive Wizard, click the restore drive → restore from backup directory menu command in the program window, and browse to the location where the drive backup file is saved in the Browse Directory dialog box that appears. When you click OK, the list of backed up hardware drivers appears in the main window of the program, select the driver you want to install or restore in the list, and then click the Start Restore button to restore or install the driver at a one-time.
