Method 1: Fix Internet Explorer 6.0

Follow these steps to repair Internet Explorer 6.0:

1. Use the System File Check tool to scan all write-protected files on the computer:

A. Click Start> run. The run text box is displayed;

B. Open: Enter SFC/scannow in the column, and click OK. At this time, the system may prompt you to insert a Windows XP installation disc.

2. Open a new Internet Explorer window to check whether the problem has been resolved. If the problem has been resolved, skip the following steps. If the problem persists, proceed to the next step.

3. Upgrade Windows XP online or repair Windows XP.

  Method 2: Modify the Registry to allow the operating system to install Internet Explorer 6.0

Note: The following process includes Editing information about the Windows registry. Improper use of the Registry Editor may cause more serious errors and the operating system must be reinstalled to resolve them. Before performing the following steps, you must back up the Registry file. Use the Registry Editor at your own risk.

Follow these steps to edit the registry:

1. Click Start> run. The run text box is displayed.

2. Open: type Regedit in the column, and click OK.

3. Perform Windows XP online upgrade or Windows XP repair.

4. find the correct registry subkey, right-click the isinstalled (REG_DWORD) key value, and click Modify. in the Windows XP operating system, reinstall the Internet Explorer 6 browser component and use the following registry key value:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Active Setup \ Installed Components \

5. Change the value from 1 to 0.

6. Click OK.

7. Exit the Registry Editor, and then download and install Internet Explorer 6.

Note: by default, Internet Explorer 6.0 is pre-installed in all versions of Windows XP and cannot be uninstalled. To enable computer vendors to flexibly configure Windows XP desktop versions, Microsoft allows OEMs (original device manufacturers), administrators, and users to delete Internet Explorer user permissions, at the same time, it ensures the integrity of Internet Explorer Code and ensures that the functions of programs and operating systems dependent on Internet Explorer are not affected. For example, Windows XP supports ieaccess = off conversion in the unattend.txt file, and Internet Explorer has been added to the Add/delete programs in the control panel to add/delete Windows Components. In this way, Internet Explorer is not re-installed.

  Method 3: Install Internet Explorer 6.0 on the System Disk

On the Windows XP installation disk, enter the following command in the "Start> Run" window:
