How to connect to a remote computer based on Windows XP or based on Windows Server 2003
To connect to a remote computer, perform the following steps:
- Click Start, point to all programs (or programs), point to attachments, point to communication, and then click Remote Desktop Connection ".
- Enter the name of a Windows XP-based computer that has the Remote Desktop function enabled, and then click Connect ".
- Enter the user name and password, and click OK ".

You can access the disk drive on your local computer during a remote desktop session. You can redirect local disk drives, including hard drives, CD-ROM drives, floppy drives, and ing Network Disk drives so that you can transfer files between your local host and remote computer, the transfer method is the same as the way you share and copy files from the network. You can use Microsoft Windows Resource Manager to view disk drives and files for each redirected disk drive. Alternatively, you can view the files of each redirected disk drive in my computer. These drives are displayed asDrive_letterInTerminal_server_client_name".
To view disk drives and files for a redirected disk drive, perform the following steps:
- Click Start, point to all programs (or programs), point to attachments, point to communication, and then click Remote Desktop Connection ".
- Click options, and then click the local resources tab.
- Click disk drive, and then click Connect ".
How to end a remote desktop session
After using the Remote Desktop Connection, perform the following operations:
- In the Remote Desktop Connection window, click Start, and then click Close ".
- Click logout, and then click OK ".
