Running the center Server Appliance 6.5 in a VMware Workstation 12 virtual machine

A few days ago a netizen asked how to deploy VCSA 6.5 in VMware Workstation 12. There was something else, and I didn't do the test. Take advantage of the holiday is OK, do this aspect of the test, write the text record. In summary, in the release of VMware Workstation 12, deploying VCSA 6.5 overall is simple.

"description" in VMware's new version of VMware Workstation 14.0, whether deploying VCSA 6.5 or 6.0, is simpler than the VMware Workstation 12.0 and has time to post again.

(1) Use the virtual optical drive to load the vcenter server Appliance 6.5.0 disc image, currently the vcenter server 6.5.0e version, ISO file name is Vmware-vcsa-all-6.5.0-5705665.iso, size 3.35GB. Where the name of the center Server Appliance is vmware-vcenter-server-appliance-6.5.0.5600-5705665_ Ovf10.ova, size 2.38GB, in the ISO VCSA directory, 1-1-1 is shown.

(3) Run VMware Workstation, select "Open" on the "File" menu, and 1-1-2 as shown.

(4) In the Open dialog box, open the VMWARE-VCENTER-SERVER-APPLIANCE-6.5.0.5600-5705665_OVF10 in the VCSA directory of the virtual optical drive. OVA ", 1-1-3 shown.

(4) In the Import Virtual Machine dialog box, set the name of the new virtual machine (this example is vcsa-80.5), click Browse to select the storage path for the new virtual machine, and this example selects E:\vsan01\vcsa-80.5,1-1-4 as shown. You will then start importing the VCSA template.

(5) After the import is complete, the VMware VCenter Server License Agreement, 1-1-6, appears. Click the Accept button.

(7) After the virtual machine import is complete, edit the virtual machine settings and change the "network adapter" from the default "bridging mode" to "NAT mode", as shown in 1-1-7. Because the other ESXi hosts in this section of the lab are using NAT mode, this requires that vcenter server be in the same network segment as ESXi.

(8) After returning to VMware Workstation, turn on the power of the VCSA virtual machine.

(9) When the VCSA virtual machine launches to the login interface, please wait a little while.

(10) After the vcenter server is fully booted, a 1-1-10 interface appears, with information such as IP address in this interface. Because this is the first deployment, the current vcenter server does not have a password set, so it will prompt "Root password is not set". Press the F2 key to enter the system settings, set the password, as shown in 1-1-11.

(11) After setting the password into the configuration interface, move the cursor to "Configure Management Network" (1-1-12), and press ENTER, enter "IP Configuration", select "Set Static IP address and network configuration, and set the IP address as shown in 192.168.80.5,1-1-13. Press ENTER after setting. These are similar to the ESXi console interface.

(12) After Setup is complete, press ESC and save settings to exit and return to the Vcenter Server console interface as shown in 1-1-14.

Next, set up for Vcenter server.

(1) in IE, enter https://192.168.80.5:5480, enter the configuration page, click "Set vcenter Server Appliance", 1-1-15 is shown.

(2) in the "Login vcenter Server Appliance" interface, enter the root password for Figure 1-1-11 settings to continue, as shown in 1-1-16.

(3) In the introduction, click the Next button.

(4) in System name, set the IP address, in this example, 192.168.80.5 (the vcenter server name will be registered with this IP address). remain unchanged at "IP address". In time synchronization mode, select Synchronize time with ESXi host, as shown in 1-1-18. The other remains the default value.

(5) In SSO configuration, enter the SSO domain name (this example is Vsphere.local), set the SSO password, and the site name (this example is shown in default-site,1-1-19.

(6) In the upcoming Completion dialog box, click the Finish button, 1-1-20.

(7) The Vcenter Server will be deployed later until deployment is complete, as shown in 1-1-21.

After logging in to Vcenter Server, this example is Https://192.168.80.5/vsphere-client, which is shown in Vcenter server,1-1-22.
