Forwarding Solemn statement: On the network about SECURECRT even VMware Linux blog most of them with misleading meaning, I also suffer from the harm, of course, can not blame others, at least I read the blog when learning a lot of things, before following the blog configuration, It is true that Linux in VMware can be used with SECURECRT, but one of the unexpected problems is that Linux in VMware will not be able to access the Internet. Now summed up, in fact, really simple, to achieve both the SECURECRT with VMware Linux, but also let the Linux network in VMware, as long as a few steps can be (look at the picture, the effect is absolutely stronger than the text):

1. Right-click on one of your VMware Linux operating systems, then select setting, select Network Adapter in the Hardware tab, and then follow the configuration:

2. Open the corresponding Linux operating system in VMware, and click the command ifconfig to view the current IP address, for example my current address is 192.168.235.131

3. Open SecureCRT, then quick link to file, then press configure:

4. Click the Connect button

5. Enter the corresponding password

6. Then click Save Account and Password

Description
Linux version: RedHat 5.5 (other versions should be similar)
Window version: XP SP3
SECURECRT version: 6.2.2 (build 263)
Vwware version: 7.0.0 build-203739
PC Configuration: PC for designated IP, this time using IP 192.168.14.59

1. VMware Configuration
1) Edit the virtual network in edit, as shown in
It is important to note that vmnet can choose one, as long as the network card with the virtual machine to match the line (see article)
Vmnet0~9, only one of the type can be set to nat, subnet IP cannot be duplicated
Subnet IP segment needs and the IP of the Virtual network card in window belongs to a network segment (see Window configuration)

2. After selecting the virtual machine that needs to be configured, set up the virtual machine, configure the network adapter,
Note: Network connection needs to be consistent with Vmnet in edit virtual network

2. Window configuration
1) on the desktop, Network Places (right-click Properties),
Description: "VMware network Adapter VMnet *" is used in VMware's "Edit virtual network" to configure that virtual NIC. Depending on the configuration of VMware, we select "VMware Network Adapter VMnet0"

2) Set up the virtual NIC Ip,ip need and VMware "edit virtual network" configuration in the IP belongs to a network segment,

3. Linux Configuration
1) Enter/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts in the terminal, find Ifcfg-eth0,

2) using the VI command to edit ifcfg-eth0, add IP, subnet mask and default gateway, you need to pay attention to IP needs and virtual host network card in a network segment, using 192.168.128.*, the default gateway also uses a network segment.

3) Restart Network Service using "Service network restart" is configured to take effect, use Ifconfig to view configuration results

Note: If you choose not VMNet0, but VMNet8 what kind of, then you need service network restart after Linux start, then switch to VMNet8 network, Because Linux defaults to go to VMNet0.

4) Use the ping command to connect with the PC when testing

4. SECURECRT Connection
Run the software, connect using quick Connect, connect to the Linux IP, enter the Linux password, and connect to Linux.
