1.1. Steps

There are three more files, one installation file, one Chinese file, and one serial number.

Double-click the ServUSetup.exe file to install the original English version of Serv-U,

Create a desktop shortcut

In this step, click Install to start installation.

In this step, the installation is complete. Click Finish to complete the installation process.

In this case, the Serv-U configuration page is displayed automatically,

Click Next

In this step, check whether a small icon is used in munu. You don't need to worry about it. We will continue to Next by default.

This step asks if you are starting to run and connect to the FTP server. Let's continue to Next

Then, configure the FTP server to create a new domain,

Ask us about the ftp ip address. If it is a dynamic IP address, leave it blank.

Enter the IP address of the local machine, for example, 192.168.0.1.

Continue Next

Ask the name of our domain and enter one at a time, for example, test. click Next.

In this step, we will ask if we want to install Serv-U as a system service. If Yes is selected, that is, we will install Serv-U as a system service and automatically run ServU upon each boot.

If No is selected, start ServU manually each time. Continue Next

In this step, we asked if anonymous user access is enabled. This is enabled by default. However, many articles have said that the anonymous user permissions enabled during Serv-U installation are high, which is not safe for servers, therefore, we recommend that you choose No, that is, do not enable it. After installation, You can manually create the anonymous user. Continue Next

Ask if we want to create a client user. We will not create the user first. After Serv-U is configured, create the user again and continue Next.

Click Finish to complete the domain configuration. We can see that your Serv-U is a 30-day trial version. Let's ignore it and click OK,

We can see that the Domain of our Serv-U server is not online (Domain is offline ),

What is the problem?

Many users who have installed the FTP service of IIS will encounter this problem. Here we will talk about the problem. The key is that your port 21 has been occupied by the FTP service of IIS, and the service port of the Serv-U domain is also port 21, therefore, the domain name of Serv-U cannot be online. After finding the problem, we can solve the problem. Find the FTP default site of the IIS manager and stop it,

Now, let's go back to Serv-U, select the Local Server, and click Stop Server to Stop Serv-U.

Click OK

Then restart Serv-U and click Start Server.

Click the + sign in front of the Local Server to see that the domain is already online,

If the domain name is still offline, check whether the IP address is correct. For example, 127.0.0.1 may be incorrect.

Second, you must enter the authorization information.

Well, now the work is half done. Next we will install the Chinese package, find the installer folder and click the setup.exe file,

Click Next

Ask you about the installation path of Serv-U, because we installed it by default, so you don't need to change it here. continue to the next step.

In the displayed dialog box, select

Click Install to start installation.

An error occurred. Why? Because we have not released the Serv-U program, the Chinese patch cannot replace this file. Next we will stop Serv-U and exit

Stop Serv-U, right-click the Serv-U icon on the taskbar, and select Exit

OK. Go back to the setup.exe installation page and click "try again ".

Successfully complete the installation of the Chinese package,

Click Finish. After Serv-U is started, you can see that the interface is already in Chinese.

Click the plus sign and you will see the 30-day trial version,

Click OK to view the license information,

Click Enter key to bring up a registration key dialog box,

Next let's activate serv-u, find the sn.txt file in the installation program's directory, and copy the content.

Return to the registration key dialog box and paste

Click OK. After activation, let's take a look at the license,

Next, create an anonymous user. Select a domain user, right-click the user area, and select create user.

Enter Anonymous in the user name (this user name is the default Anonymous FTP user name), for example:

Next, let's select the default ftp access directory for anonymous users. Let's select a directory. Here I also select the ftproot directory when setting up the FTP service in IIS, for example:

OK. click Next.

Ask if we want to lock the user in the main directory. If the user is in a security issue, select "yes" and click "OK", for example:

Now the anonymous user is created. We can view the attributes of the anonymous user.

General Attributes

Directory Access attribute. We can see that this anonymous user has only the read permission.

Upload/download rate attributes

Quota attribute. Here we can manage the disk quota of the created users. This is why there is a limit on the size of the VM, if we limit the disk quota to a maximum of MB, the user cannot upload files when the file size exceeds MB during ftp.

Next, let's test whether the created anonymous user can be used normally. Open IE and enter ftp: // localhost in the address bar and press Enter.

Normally, the Set directory is opened and the files in the directory are displayed.

Let's talk about how to create an FTP service customer.

We still create ftpuser users like in the FTP service provided by IIS, such:
