Restore Site Collection

After the Site Collection is backed up (see the previous blog), if you want to restore it, SharePoint does not provide operations on the page, you must use the PowerShell command to restore it.

 

Run the SharePoint 2013 Management Shell command line tool as an administrator.

In Windows, the UAC prompt is displayed. Click Yes.

At this time, you can use the Restore-Site command to Restore. This command has several parameters. The simplest one is two parameters:

• Target url. Where to restore SiteCollection.

• -Path: the bak file backed up.

You may encounter this error by restoring to the same Web Application: "No content database in the web application were available to storeyour site collection ".

This is because the original Site Collection still exists in the current Content Database, resulting in restoration conflicts.

If you try to restore the original Site Collection, you will also encounter the following error:

To restore the Site Collection successfully, you can:

1. Do not delete the previous Site Collection. Use the-force parameter to overwrite the existing site collection.

1. Create a new Content Database in the original Web Application to restore it.

   Use the-ContentDatabase parameter.

2. Restore to another Web Application.
