Skype for Business 2015 Combat Series 5: Installing the Back-end Database

Before you introduce the Active Directory preparation and certificate and file share preparation for Skype for Business Server 2015, let's introduce the back-end server preparation for SFB today.

Like other Microsoft services, SFB's back-end servers use a database of Microsoft's own SQL Server, which is used to store state information, a user's contact list, meeting data that contains permanent data about all current meeting status, and meeting scheduling data. (The monitoring, archiving server's back-end server and back-end database can be collocated in the deployment).

Skype for Business Server 2015 has the following limitations for SQL Server versions:

In this environment we use two SQL Server 2014来 with CU6 patches to enable high availability of back-end servers. Let's start with today's content: Installing SQL Server 2014 on SQL01, SQL02 two servers

First login to the SQL01 server, I have completed the SQL01 server configuration IP address, modify the computer name and join the domain, such as the operation, as shown in:

Click "Install"-"New SQL Server standalone installation or add features to an existing installation":

In the Product key location, enter the product key and click Next:

At Microsoft Update location, you can choose to use the Microsoft Update update or click Next directly:

In the installation rule location, confirm the error, click Next:

In the Set role location, leave the Default check box "SQL Server Feature Installation" and click Next:

Select the desired feature and click Next:

Tick "named instance" in the instance configuration location and enter your own named instance name, or you can use the default instance, and click Next:

In the server configuration location, configure the service account and set the startup type to "Automatic" and click Next:

In the database engine configuration location, establish the authentication mode and specify the SQL Server administrator, and click Next:

The report configuration location remains the default, click Next:

Confirm the error, click Install:
