Today with a senior colleague to discuss the restful, I rookie, to colleagues asked a question-what is the difference between a restful and a servlet? Colleagues think twice and do not clearly describe their differences.
Google after the fact, suddenly feel that their problems to mention how stupid.
1. RESTful is not a technology, nor a standard, but a style that is not comparable to a servlet at all. A servlet-based application can also be a restful style, in other words, restful can be achieved through a servlet.
2. Through the REST-style architecture, requests and responses are built on the transport of resource representations. Resources are identified by the global ID, which typically uses a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI). The client app uses an HTTP method (such as GET, POST, PUT, or DELETE) to manipulate one or more resources. Typically, get is used to get or list one or more resources, POST is used to create, PUT is used for updates or replacements, and delete is used to delete resources.
