Feature Description:

SQL Server A failover cluster appears on the network as a single instance of SQL Server on a computer. Within a cluster, only one node at a time has a cluster resource group that satisfies all client requests for that failover cluster instance. Group ownership is transferred to other nodes within the failover cluster in the event of a failure (hardware failure, operating system failure, application or service failure) or scheduled upgrade. This process is known as failover. By leveraging the Windows server failover Clustering feature, SQL Server failover clustering provides high availability at the instance level through redundancy.

The configuration process is divided into 5 parts:
