Sync computer files with SyncToy under Windows

In part of the system planning, you need to synchronize the folders, and then consider using the Microsoft Sync Tool SyncToy to work with Windows's own scheduled tasks. This time, a case will be used to automatically synchronize the folders in the two servers where the ASP site program resides. SyncToy, which was released by Microsoft in October 2005, now has a version of 2.1, a release date of 11/24/2009, and is a free, Easy-to-use synchronization tool for use on the Windows xp/2003/win7 operating system. It provides a concise interface, simple usage, and a high degree of customization. can help us from the heavy copy, move and synchronize the work of different directories, just click a few mouse to set up, you can get more operations, there will be additional customization features without increasing the complexity of the use. SyncToy not only can manage multiple directory families at the same time, but also can combine files in two directories into one directory, etc., to maximize the efficiency of IT engineers.

In this application, the SyncToy is installed in the 10.134.130.104. After the installation is complete, see the SyncToy run interface as shown in Figure I.

Third, the use of SyncToy:

After the installation completes SyncToy, start synchronizing the folder settings.

Click the "Create New Folder Pair" button at the bottom of the main interface to create a new directory of Operations, which pops up a window like Figure two. In the title bar of this window, we can see that the operation is divided into four steps, which is very easy to operate. Click the "Browse" button under "Left folder" to select the path to the left-hand directory. Here we choose to store the ASP folder directory path C:webprogram, select Good and then click "Next" into the second step of the setting.

In this interface, add another server (10.134.130.105) to synchronize the folder directory. This step requires the synchronization directory in the 10.134.130.105 to share, because the two servers set up unicast NLB, so the host can not communicate with each other, so this use of internal communication IP 192.168.1.104 and 192.168.1.105 data synchronization. The relevant settings are shown in Figure three.

Click "Next" to enter the Select Sync mode interface. Scnctoy offers a total of five kinds of synchronization operations, they are "Synchronize", "Echo", "Subscribe", "Contribute", "Combine", move the mouse over them will have the corresponding instructions. Here's a simple description of these five patterns:

"Synchronize": New files and changed files are copied to each other in the left and right directories, and the same is done in another directory if the same file is in the two directories, and one of the directories is renamed or deleted.

"Echo": New and changed files in the left directory will be copied to the right directory, and the same will be done in the right directory if you have the same file in the two directories, renamed or deleted in the left directory. This project synchronizes with this action, as shown in Figure four.

"Subscribe": Files that are updated in the right directory are copied to the left directory, and if the same file exists in the left directory, renamed or deleted in the right directory, the same will be done in the left directory.

"Contribute": similar to the echo operation, but does not perform a delete operation.

"Combine": New files and changed files are copied to each other in the left and right directories, but do not perform a comparison of renaming and deletion.

When you have finished synchronizing mode settings, click "Next" to go to the last step-naming (Figure V).

After setting, click "Finish" to complete all the basic configuration, complete the interface as shown in Figure six.

Click "Preview" to preview what Scnctoy will do, and after the simulation runs, we will see the results of the operation, such as Figure seven. The file exists in red for all two services, but the files in the left directory (10.134.130.104) have been modified, blue is displayed as the newly added file in the left directory, and other operations are described in detail, such as delete, rename, and so on.

We can also run this scheme directly by clicking "Run". The operation of the scheme will be completed automatically, no manual operation on duty, for large folders, the synchronization between the two machines is very convenient. After the synchronization is complete, SyncToy will give a running result, which indicates the results of operations such as delete, overwrite and rename, and the user can master the running result.

Use Windows planning tasks to work with synchronization:

After configuring SyncToy, because the tool can not set the automatic running time, it is necessary to work with the Windows Planning task to automatically complete the synchronization.

Because you want to automate the added SyncToy in a scheduled task, you need to add the SyncToy run program path in run, and then add the Run parameter "–r", for example: "C:Program Filessynctoy 2.0 BetaSyncToyCmd.exe "
