How to implement System Restore and image repair under Win7 operating system? Today, we will give you a detailed introduction, I hope you have to help the operating system!

1. System Restore

Simply put, when we install the application software, hardware driver, or system setup, Windows first records the status of the current system to form a backup. In the future, if the system is not working properly, the entire system can be restored to the state of the backup. This function looks good, however, in Windows XP and the previous system, there are few people who actually use this feature: the restore needs to be done after the system starts-but when the system is no longer able to start and needs to be restored most, it becomes empty talk because the system does not start. To this end, many computer enthusiasts after the installation of the system is the first thing to turn off this function, a lot of friends do not know the user has this function exists.

Windows 7 still retains this functionality, but I'm sure everyone will be reluctant to close it because it restores the system by repairing the disc--completely resolving the criticism that started after the restoration.

1 The creation of a restore point

By default, Windows 7 automatically creates restore points at the right time, such as when you install a hardware driver, when you install some software, and when you have important settings for your system. Can also be created manually, generally, if you think that some operations may affect system stability, security, such as the installation of trial software, update unofficial drivers need to manually create a restore point. The specific methods are as follows:

(1) On the Start menu, right-click Computer, and select Properties. Next, click System Protection from the open window. Here, we can observe that the "protect" status of the partition on which Windows 7 is installed is open, that is, the partition is protected when the restore point is manually or automatically created. In general, as long as the partition is protected, it's enough, as shown in Figure 7.

(2) Click the "Create" button, in the Open dialog box prompted to enter the name of the restore point, and then click the "Create" button to manually create a restore point.

Note: The name of the restore point is best not for convenient and arbitrary input, should have a certain mnemonic significance, such as: "XX time installed XX", "XX time configured XX" and so on. This allows for a targeted selection of restore points to restore the system.

2) Restore settings

System Restore is a very important and convenient function, the biggest advantage is not to destroy the user's files, such as My Documents, My Pictures, my music and so on. To make it work better, you can make some simple settings.

System Restore only monitors the partitions where Windows 7 is installed, and if you want to monitor other partitions, select in Figure 7, click the "Configure" button and select "Restore system settings and previous versions of files" in the Open dialog box. Here, you can also control the restore function occupied by the hard disk space-drag the corresponding slider can, in general, you can choose 10℅ around. To turn off System Restore, simply select "Turn off System protection" here.

3) repair system with restore point

If you obviously feel that the system is not working properly because of an operation, or that the system has been attacked by malware after a certain time, it is a pretty good choice to use the restore to fix it. Repairing your computer with a restore point can be done under Windows 7 windows or by repairing the disc.

4) under Windows 7 windows

In the Figure 7 dialog box, click System Restore. Next, select an existing restore point and click the "Next" button.

In this step, be sure to pay attention to the selection of the restore point, because the program installed since the restore point will not be able to run, we manually to the system some of the settings will not take effect. To solve this problem, please note that the name of the restore point to distinguish, or click "Scan affected Programs" To view, and strive to restore the system and to ensure that the installation of the program and settings to find a balance between effective.

5) Restore with repair disc

With the repair disc (including the installation of CD-ROM, safe mode, etc., the same below) start the computer until the Figure 6 interface appears, click "System Restore" can be the next operation and in the Windows 7 window exactly the same.

2. Image Repair

Image Repair is one of the new features of Windows 7, and it works like the familiar ghost. When created, the entire partition is backed up as an image file, and the image file is released to the specified hard disk partition when repaired.

The image is created under Windows 7 window, and the image to restore the system can only be done by repairing the disc. This design concept not only takes care of the simplicity of the operation but also considers the applicability. The creation of an image is normally done when the system is working properly, and it is not necessary to use the repair disc to achieve it, but it is simple and easy to operate under the System window. In general, image repair is primarily used to completely repair a damaged system, which is equivalent to reinstalling, but the software that was installed before the image was created and the settings that were made to the system remain intact. When the system is no longer able to start, and most needed, the repair disc to come forward to effectively resolve other recovery measures (such as file recovery) because the system can not be implemented by the failure of the abuse.

1) Create image

The image is created under Windows 7 window.

(1) In the Start menu, click on "All programs → maintenance → backup or restore → create system image" to run the Backup Wizard.

(2) Choose where to save the backup. You can choose to share a partition, DVD disc, or local area network on your local hard disk or on a removable hard disk.

Tip: To ensure the convenience of recovery, it is recommended to store backups on the local hard drive. Backups cannot be stored in partitions where Windows 7 is installed, and only other partitions can be selected.

(3) Select which partitions to back up. By default, the partition where Windows 7 is installed is selected and cannot be modified, as shown in Figure 8. In general, it is sufficient to select both partitions.

(4) Confirmation. In the next step, it displays the partition you have selected to back up, the location of the backup, and so on as a list, if correct, click "Start Backup", otherwise, click the Back button in the upper left corner to reset. When finished, a file with the extension VHD is generated.

Tip: Because of the large footprint of the partition files installed on Windows 7, 10GB or above, the backup takes a long time.

(5) Hide the partition. In this example, the location of the image file is a partition of the local hard disk, which can be hidden to ensure the security of the image file. From the Start menu, right-click Computer, select Manage, and expand storage → Disk Management in the left window of the open window. Then, in the right window, right-click the partition that holds the backup, select the change Drive letter and Path command, and click the Delete button in the Open dialog box.

Note: This does not delete the partition, just delete the partition's letter (for example: E disk, F), so that it cannot be displayed under the Computer window. In the future, when you use an image to recover your computer, you can display the partition letter: Right-click the partition of the deleted letter, select "Change Drive letter and Path command", and then click the "Add" button in the Open dialog box and select one.

(2) Repair computer with image

Repairing a computer with an image can only be done by repairing the disc.

(1) Use the repair CD to start the computer, until the interface shown in Figure 6 appears, select "Image repair."

(2) Select the location where the image is stored. First, it will recommend a recent backup for us. Small set to remind everyone with restore point repair is different, the image is usually only created once, for this, directly select its recommended image.

Tip: If the image file is stored on a mobile hard disk or a local area network share, click "Advanced" on the recovery screen to select it. When you specify a local area network share location, the path is in the format of the folder name shared by the shared computer name.

(3) Extract files from the image file

In actual use, you may encounter the situation: after the creation of the image, due to misoperation caused the user files are lost, can not recover and directly from the image to extract the missing files?

According to Microsoft about the Windows 7 image file, said that the image file can not be used for partial restore, but the author tried to show that the image of some of the files can be extracted, which is mainly due to Windows 7 provides the VHD file for the original ecological support.

The test shows that the image file extension generated when the image was created was a VHD, as long as it was loaded as a virtual hard disk by Disk Manager.

(1) The authority is lifted. On the author's computer, the image file is stored in a N:WINDOWSIMAGEBACKUPIJIBEN-PCB location.

Ackup 2009-10-14 185007, where bijiben-pc is the author's computer name, and 2009-10-14 185007 indicates the date and number when the backup was created. Access to these folders will be related to the permissions of the prompt information, please click "Release", after the release of normal access.

(2) Turn on disk Management. From the Start menu, right-click Computer, select Manage, and expand storage → Disk Management in the left window of the open window.

(3) loading the VHD file. Click the "action → Attach vhd" menu command to click the "Browse" button in the Open dialog box to locate the VHD file to be loaded. At this point, the image file is loaded as a virtual disk partition and the disk character is automatically assigned.

By double-clicking the virtual partition under Explorer, you can observe the files in it, exactly the same as the partition folder structure and files before the backup.

3. Start Repair

If the system fails to boot and cannot find another reason, try "start repair", and when selected, the repair disc automatically scans for startup-related files, checks for its integrity, reliability, and then replaces it with a normal file, which generally solves the problem. During the repair process, you may be prompted to insert the installation CD for Windows 7 because of a replacement file.

The best way to do this is to not break any of the user's files and not affect the programs that have been installed. The first option to fix a system that cannot be started is to select it, and if not, try restore and image repair.

4. Command prompt

A command prompt is a patent for a master who knows this way. Here, the author will be an example of the form to show this issue, so that you are also among the experts list.

(1) Cheat out of the window interface

Instance requirements: Installation of Windows 7 has been unable to start, try a variety of repair measures are invalid, had to reload the system, how can I back up the user files? In this example, we will "out of nothing" to create a window environment.

(1) Start the computer with the repair CD and select "Command Prompt" in the interface shown in Figure 6.

(2) in the Command Prompt window, enter the following command: Notepad (This command opens a notepad program).

(3) Notepad program opened, just click the "file → Save as" menu command, window of the resource manager can be opened, as shown in Figure 9. Note that at this point, the file can be found only text files, to see all the files, please select "All Files" after "Save Type". Can look up the file, of course, can be copied to the hard disk partition.
