Team Foundation but server deployment

1. Overview

Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation provides Team collaboration tools so that an organization can manage and track software development processes. To facilitate Team use, Team Explorer integrates the project work products on the project site into Visual Studio IDE. Team Foundation also provides scalable Work Item tracking and enterprise-level version control systems.

2. TFS Composition
Based on the traditional three-tier architecture, Team Foundation consists of the data layer, application layer, and customer layer.

A. Data Layer

The data layer of Team Foundation is composed of Microsoft SQL Server 2005, which stores work items, Version Control of the original code, test results, and measurement standards of other projects. For more information, see Team Foundation Databases.

B. Application Layer

The application layer is a network-based application that integrates Internet Information Services (IIS ). These applications include Team Foundation Core Services and Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services.

C. Customer Layer

The customer layer consists of Visual Studio IDE with the Team Foundation client components. The customer layer also integrates Microsoft Office Project 2003 and Microsoft Office Excel 2003. The Project manager can use them to view the Project information and publish the information to the Team Foundation Server.

Team Foundation Server single Server deployment details

Single Server
The Single Server deployment of Team Foundation Server is to deploy the data layer and application layer on the same computer. If you select the data layer and application layer on the same computer, you must first install the server components. Otherwise, you can install the Client layer and other layers in parallel. Installation Process
1. install a new operating system

Steps:
A. Install Windows Server 2003 Enterprise or Standard. (Patch Sp2 or above)
B. Install IIS
1. add or delete a program-> Windows component wizard-> Application Server-> Internet Information Service (IIS), ASP. NET
Note: FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions cannot be installed.
C. Create a user
1. Install the account (add the user to the Administrators group of the local computer .)
User Login Name: TFSSetup password: TFSSetup
2. Service account
Username: TFSService password: TFSService
3. Report data source account
Username: TFSReports password: TFSReports

Ii. Install SQL Server 2005
Requirements: 1. select Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Standard CHS for default installation. (Patch Sp1 or above)
2. Install the following services:
A. SQL Server Database Services
B. Analysis Services
C. Integration Services
D. Reporting Services
E. workstation components, online books and development tools
F. Start the service
In "Start service upon installation", select all Services: "SQL Server", "SQL Server Agent", "Analysis Services", "Reporting Services", and "SQL Browser ", click "Next ".

3. update Windows 2003 with the Sp3 patch

4. Install WSS
Requirements: 1. download and install the Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 Service Pack (STSV2.EXE file)
Note: select "server farm" for the installation type to automatically configure Report-related services.
2. Install the Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 Service Pack patch (or upgrade windows 2003 to automatically search for the SHarePoint Services 3.0 patch)

5. Install the Microsoft. NET Framework 2.0 patch
1. Install the program in the KB913393 folder on the installation media.

Follow the preceding five steps to install the SDK. If you select the default installation method for all the other steps, the installation is successful.

6. After completing the preparations, switch to the TFSSetup installation account in Windows and install the TFS software. Enter the service account and report the data of the Data Source account.

Error 1:

Command Line "c: \ Program Files \ Common Files \ Microsoft Shared \ Web Server Extensions \ 60 \ Bin \ Stsadm.exe"... return a non-zero value:-2130242250.
Error 2:
When installing TFS, error 29112 is displayed. The Team foundation Report Server is incorrectly configured or the Reporting services website is unavailable.

The error cause does not follow the precautions to install WSS.
Note: select "server farm" for the installation type to automatically configure Report-related services.
