Preface:I always wanted to create a good team culture for this new development team. after a long time of observation and thinking, I summed up some methods. If we want a guerrilla group (A group accustomed to agile development) to change their habits and turn them into regular troops, in addition to institutional constraints, I think good management is required, so I decided to let the project management software go first. As A. NET development team, the first project management software to be considered is Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 team Foundation server (TFS ).
After multiple tests, the following TFs installation conditions are summarized:
- Cannot be installed on DC (Domain Controller)
- The wss3 environment is required (it will be difficult for people who do not need WSS)
- SQL Server 2005 is required, and reporting service and Analysis Service must be installed. (before installation, install the relevant database service to enable and set it to automatic. A prompt will also be prompted during installation and scanning)
- Remember to install all database components on the default object. If you do not believe this, try again...
- Uninstall FrontPage Server Extensions first. The uninstallation method is complicated. You need to manually clear the metabase. xml configuration.
- Please keep port 8080 open (the method for installing it on another port is not found at the moment)
In general, the environment is too restrictive.
The following is an overview of the installation process and steps, because you do not want to install it again, you can only write it by recalling it. Therefore, the following steps only list the key points and precautions, and do not provide details.
Installation environment (all English software environment ):
- Core 2 dual-core + 2 GB memory Assembly Server
- Windows Server 2003 (SP2)
- . NET Framework 3.5
- Web SQL Server 2005 (SP2)
- Windows SharePoint service 3 (SP2)
Installation steps:

- If you have not installed wss3, please install it first. wss3 can be downloaded on Microsoft's official website. I will not talk about the installation process. You can find a tutorial on your own.

- First, let's take a look at the HTA installation interface of TFS. I installed an English trial version (90 days)

- Install Windows SharePoint Services extensions. After the installation is complete, a window will pop up asking you to configure SharePoint and reporting service information, but I have not figured out what to use this information.

- Create a web application on the WSS, and then use the TFS template to create a site. Then I use the agile template to create a site... I do not hate cmme. I don't hate cmme. I don't hate cmme. I don't hate cmme. I don't hate cmme
- Install the team Foundation server.ProgramBefore that, create two windows accounts named tfsservice and tfsreport.
Before the installation starts, the system environment will be scanned, and an error cannot be followed. The exclamation point warning can be ignored (I ignored a warning about CPU or something, probably not compatible ). During the installation process, you will first be asked to enter the running accounts of Web Service and Reporting Service, and just enter the two you just created. Then you can enter the WSS Management Center address and a site address. Enter the address of the site that was created in the previous step. (If SharePoint Services extensions is not installed, an error is returned ). After everything is done, the installation progress page will be displayed happily. Pray that the installation can be completed smoothly.

- After TFs is installed, install team Foundation build. The installation process is simple. I am not very clear about the role of this component, but I have a concept of a model. For details, refer:

- After completing the above steps, the server is basically installed, and then you need to install team explorer on the client

During connection, be sure to use the user with the administraotrs role. Of course, this can be configured in TFs
- After the connection is complete, you can try to create a team project
There will also be various errors in this process. Please solve them according to the log file. I will encounter an error saying that the cache file cannot be written into document and setting. After this step is successfully passed, congratulations, TFS is probably working properly. (A project portal site is created on SharePoint when a team project is created)

Summary:The whole installation took me a day, mainly because it was completely blank. Fortunately, I am familiar with Sharepoint. After the installation, the first feeling is that this thing is very powerful, and the second feeling is very complicated! It seems that it will take a long time for the team to familiarize themselves with this environment, and my own project management ideas should also be improved. In addition, Ms products currently have a lot of dependencies on SharePoint, such as exchange 2007 and project server. It may be difficult for friends who have never worked on SharePoint. If you have a lot of contact with Microsoft applications and don't know about Sharepoint, it is best to know about SharePoint in your free time, which will never be wasted.
