Send background commands to the Telnet Server

You can use the following process to send commands to the Telnet server.
You may sometimes need to send special commands to the Telnet server, but the program used by the Telnet session cannot be interrupted. You can use the following procedure to send commands to the Telnet server from the command mode that may allow you to regain control of the session.

Any user account can complete this process.
To send commands to the Telnet Server
On the Telnet client, switch to the command mode.
At the Microsoft Telnet> command prompt, type the following command and press Enter.
Send command
Command is one of ao, ayt, esc, ip, or synch.
The Telnet client sends this command to the Telnet server. Any output generated by the command is displayed. For example, the Telnet server replies yes to the ayt command.
