Lenovo launched six new ThinkPad series for this week's CES exhibition. The x100e and edge are definitely revolutionary works in the history of the ThinkPad product line, with a red and white appearance, the introduction of AMD's hardware platform has made the two new machines absolutely controversial among new and old friends.
At present, addiction technology has obtained the ThinkPad edge 13 prototype, providing us with a real machine trial and simple performance testing. First of all, let's look at the design. According to the tester, when you take out such a thin and thin book from the packing box, you may need to carefully observe it to determine that it is not from HP, Asus or other vendors. Edge 13 is completely different from all the previous ThinkPad, abandoning the iconic matte black shell. The highlighted black surface and silver border make it closer to the ideapad series consumer model, let alone the red version of edge 13. Only the red logo on the wrist holder reminds us that this is still a ThinkPad, and despite the fact that it is intended for low-cost small and medium-sized enterprises, the design and work of the same type of models are still relatively high.
In terms of external specifications, the thickness of edge 13 is 17 to 31mm, which is a little thicker than that of ultra-thin models such as x200 or Asus ul30a, however, the 6kg or so weight makes it feel quite light in the hand. Interfaces, left and right provides a total of 3 USB interfaces, hdmi and VGA output, MMC/SD/MS-Pro/XD 5 in combination with 1 card reader, 5mm audio input/output hybrid interfaces support headphones or microphones. In addition, edge 13 does not have a built-in optical drive, just like other CULV models.
Let's take a look at the mouse keys that many black users are very concerned about. Edge 13 has abandoned ThinkPad, another traditional design: The Dark keyboard, instead of a splash-proof "Chocolate" keyboard, the button surface has a certain radian. Addiction technology testers said they initially had a lot of resistance to this kind of design, but after a few days of practical use, they found that the newly designed keyboard buttons were also very good, the radians on the keyposition surface are quite fit with the fingers, making typing quite comfortable. Thanks to God, Lenovo still retains the trackpoint red dot, and the large-sized multi-touch touchpad is also a good choice.
The 13.3-inch 1366x768 resolution LCD screen has a good display effect, but the border is too wide to make the screen look less beautiful. In addition, the built-in "low-light camera" is truly outstanding in the dark room.
Finally came to the performance test, ThinkPad edge 13 starting at $549, basic configuration for AMD processor, 2 GB memory, GB hard disk, 3-core battery. The prototype is $899 and uses the 1.3 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo su7300 processor, 4 GB memory, GB hard disk, and Windows 7 Professional operating system. The test results of geekbench and 3 dmark 06 are as follows:

As you can see, its performance is in the same grade as that of the Asus ul30a, which is the same as that of the CULV platform. It is certainly much faster than the netbook. In terms of battery endurance, the 6-core 63whr battery used by the testing machine supported 5 hours and 12 minutes in the video playback test, while on WiFi, the screen is close to the maximum brightness, word 2008 text processing and listening to Network music, a total of 6.5 hours, belongs to the upper level of the CULV model.
