TI launches Simplelink low energy Bluetooth CC2541
Recently, Texas Instruments (ti) announced the launch of SimplelinkLow Energy Bluetooth (bluetooth®low) CC2541-q1, a highly integrated wireless microcontroller (MCU), Low-power, low-cost, simplified automotive connectivity for emerging smartphone control and wired replacement applications. CC2541-Q1 leverages the following success stories: TI has a broad market for Bluetooth Smart Solutions (Simplelink CC2541) as well as for combination wi-fi®, Bluetooth and Global Navigation Satellite Systems (WILINK™8Q), dual mode Bluetooth (bl6450q) Automotive Connectivity products.
The CC2541-Q1 is aimed at emerging markets that are advocating new automotive features designed to make it easier for consumers to access information and control automotive systems with smart Bluetooth technology. These new features include:
• Smart phone control applications:
− keyless entry with Bluetooth Smart Ready smartphone or smart Bluetooth keychain (or use independently or in combination with TI's leading automotive access solution)
− Lighting controller to provide environment, cluster and programmable LED illumination
− Diagnostic information to help users understand engine warning lights
− Service with IBeacon technology for fast discovery and easy pairing with in-car smart Bluetooth technology
• Wired replacement to improve fuel economy by reducing weight and cost in the following devices or systems:
− Wireless infotainment controller in the steering wheel
− Low data rate systems for control, personalization, and alerting via smartphones
− Smart Bluetooth remote control for rear-seat entertainment systems
Simplelink CC2541-Q1 is based on the TI market-leading CC2541 deployed today in a wide range of applications across the globe, covering consumer, industrial, medical, and home applications. CC2541-Q1 is a complete solution with TI's ble-stack™ software and sample applications (including aerial downloads that support onsite updates).

simplelink Low energy Bluetooth CC2541-Q1 wireless MCUs are now available for samples and are expected to be delivered in bulk in the 3rd quarter of 2014. To accelerate the launch of the smart Bluetooth car design, the CC2541 development kit (including the Evaluation Module Kit, mini Development kit, and Sensortag Development Kit) is available.
