Toshiba's new satellite p55t laptop is equipped with a 15.6-inch 4K Ultra-clear display-with 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution, the IGZO display's pixel density reaches 221 ppi. But what's the use of a laptop with such a sharp screen? Our experience after the demo is: It is a media creation tool, suitable for professional standards of photo video, editing and design work.
Toshiba's laptop, with its sharp screen, is the Apple MacBook Pro 15-inch laptop with a retina display, aimed at professional users in the industry and education sectors.
In addition to the gorgeous 4K Ultra clear display, this notebook is equipped with the Intel Core i7 four processor, AMD R9 m265x graphics, 2GB GDDR5 video memory, 16GB memory, Languang Drive, and 802.11ac Wi-Fi. It also comes with a 1TB hard drive and 4 USB 3.0 ports to store 4K of extra-clear video and photos and to quickly move files.
Focus on content authoring, not content consumption
Even if future Netflix videos are all in the 4K format, p55t will be able to cope with the 802.11AC Wi-Fi network connection feature. However, this notebook's main selling point is not to watch the video, but the high resolution of high-quality digital media content creation.
First, each p55t will be shipped with a copy of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5-with this world-leading professional photo-editing software, the implication of Toshiba: "Photographers, this notebook is built for you!" Toshiba's move is certainly very strong, but it remains to be seen whether it will work.
Second, P55T also adopted the digital Image technology company portrait display color correction software chrome tune, so that pixel density up to 221 PPI of the ultra-clear display has been Technicolor color certification, that is to show the most authentic high-fidelity color. Each p55t is pre-installed with the application for the user to calibrate the screen color. Users can even set up color files that can be activated when the attached application starts.
The intrinsic performance is sharp, the appearance design is tedious
The p55t hardware configuration is a higher-end route, and the pixel density of 221 PPI is slightly higher than that of Apple MacBook Pro. But when people buy high-end laptops that cost more than 1000 dollars, appearance is also a very important factor to consider.
Although the use of brushed aluminum alloy shell and chrome-plated trackpad, but the outline of the p55t looks and other satellite notebook is no different, less attractive, and Apple's iconic integrated aluminum alloy fuselage is far apart.
Despite this, Toshiba upgraded the keyboard to the LED backlight suspension keyboard, the effect is very good. I only hope that this notebook design more aesthetic, frame material more high-end, so that with its "tall" software to complement each other.
Preliminary conclusions
With its 4K Ultra clear display and powerful hardware and software configuration, p55t is a media creation tool aimed at professional designers, photographers and cameramen, which is a powerful competitor to Apple's similar products.
The three highlights are: sharp display, at least five years will not be outdated 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Lightroom software
Two point is: The display is a little darker, the frame design insipid.
The notebook will be listed on April 22 for a price of 1499 dollars.
