P-link method of setting up virtual AP for wireless network card
Plug the wireless card into the USB port and install the wireless network client (not the focus of this article), open the Tp-link wireless client application after the installation completes, click the Advanced tab, and select Open in Softap (virtual AP). Click OK in the confirmation dialog box that pops up.
If opened successfully we will enter the virtual AP configuration interface, but in most cases we will see the following illustration: Configuring ICS Failed, you can connect to Softap, but you may not be able to use Internet services. This is because our Internet Connection sharing (ICS) service is not open, and we need to change this service startup type in Computer Management.
Right-click Desktop computer--management-services and applications-services, find Internet Connnection Sharing (ICS) service, double-click or right-click Properties to open, change startup type to Manual, click Start, OK. In addition, we also need to open the Windows Firewall service, as shown in Figure 3 below.
See again Tp-link wireless network client will have an extra analog AP tab where you can set up a network share, a virtual AP name, and password settings. Because the desktop uses a wired connection, we need to select a local connection on the Internet connection share (a wireless network connection is required if the wireless card connection is connected). Now we can connect with our wireless device!
