TV Switch Display Introduction

Compared to computer monitors, LCD TVs have the advantage of low screen prices. Is it possible for all LCD TVs to be used as monitors? The answer is, of course, not. To play the role of a good monitor, LCD TV must have certain conditions. If you're thinking about putting a high-definition TV on your desk, you need to know the following.

Digital interface to note

Not to mention the specific parameters of the LCD panel, want to let the TV as a monitor depends on the type of input/output port first. Modern high-definition TVs have HDMI input, some vintage high-definition TVs have DVI input, and some TVs have VGA input for computer input.

If your graphics card has an HDMI output, you can connect your computer to a high-definition TV by using an HDMI cable. However, it is necessary to note that some graphics cards are using the Micro-hdmi interface, the connection to the TV requires a connector or wiring (Figure 1). If the video card only has a DVI output, the HDMI switch DVI cable (Figure 2) can basically do the video signal lossless at the 1080P resolution and then plug it into the HDMI input on the high-definition TV.

If you install High-definition TVs into multiple monitors, you may need to use your computer's DisplayPort output, in which case you can purchase DisplayPort to the HDMI conversion line and plug into the HDMI input on the high-definition TV. The worst option is the VGA input/output (Figure 3), which is much more blurred and has a much lower resolution than the HDMI or DVI signal.

The main difference between HDMI and other digital signals is that HDMI can simultaneously transmit video and audio--if you use DVI or VGA, you need to connect your computer's audio to a high-definition TV or to an external speaker. For example, use the traditional 3.5mm audio interface to convert red and white two-channel cable to the AV interface of the TV, or using HDMI-VGA and 3.5mm connectors (Figure 4).

Graphics Related Settings

Before you start using High-definition TV as a monitor, you need to make sure that the output of your graphics/integrated graphics is up to the resolution of your High-definition TV. Note that some high-definition TVs have non-standard resolutions. To find the maximum resolution of the video card, enter the change screen settings for the Control Panel and enter the advanced settings to list all modes. Find the resolution that matches the High-definition TV and select it, generally for 1366x768 or 1920x1080 (Figure 5). Some 4K high-definition TVs may be able to reach 3840x2160, but most of these TVs have only 30Hz refresh rates and are not recommended for use as liquid crystal displays.

Samsung, Sony and other brands of LCD TV has an automatic output terminal recognition function, connect PC will automatically adjust the screen. But a lot of domestic TV does not have this function, some TV will also have a scan, such as output screen and TV screen is not aligned phenomenon. At this point you need to use features such as screen integrity adjustment in the graphics driver to fully align the output to the screen size (Figure 6).

Picture Effect related

How the effect depends on a number of factors, most affordable high-definition TV up to 1080P, in 32-inch high-definition TV screen, close viewing can feel a sense of granularity. The important factor here is pixel density, which is the number of pixels crammed into the screen per square inch. For example, a 15.6-inch laptop screen has as many pixels as a 32-inch high-definition TV screen, but a laptop has a much higher pixel density (141.21ppi) than a high-definition TV (68.84ppi). When viewed at the same distance, the laptop screen looks clearer, sharper, and more nuanced than the high-definition TV screen. The closer you are to viewing the pixel density, the greater the importance, which is why the iphone and other phones must have a retina screen. If you use a computer at a normal viewing distance, the text, icons, and images displayed on the High-definition TV screen with a larger size but a lower pixel density are somewhat blurred and difficult to see. LCD TVs used as monitors should hang the screen on the wall instead of on the table.

Game effect

If you are using a high-definition TV monitor to play the game, you need to consider another factor-input delay, which is the delay between the action you do on the input device and the picture displayed on the screen. While many computer monitors give priority to minimum latency, many high-definition TVs do not, but rather lag video processing. But when you play the first-person shooter, the extra milliseconds are definitely a big deal. If you encounter input latency problems while playing a game, try activating the "game mode" setting on High-definition TV (Figure 7).

Price/performance Analysis

TV as a display more feasible solution is in the 40-inch environment, and recommended as video playback and game display, do not recommend processing text and browsing Web use. This is because the size of the screen is a few inches large and the pixel density drops dramatically, and high-definition TV makers suggest it makes sense to sit a few feet from the TV. If you need to act as a close office/email screen and act as a movie/entertainment screen, you need a genuine large LCD display instead of an LCD TV.

High-definition TVs may not save you money compared to a monitor, but they can bring a bigger picture. If we buy a new screen, it is recommended to buy a mature and reliable large screen computer monitor, the smaller size of the computer monitor is currently at 1500 yuan, 27 inches below the screen high-definition TV is not cost-effective. In one case, however, HDTV is ideal for a monitor, and if you want to add another screen for entertainment, such as watching video or playing a large 3D game on a 60-inch screen, it's nice to have a high-definition TV instead of a monitor (Figure 8). If you happen to have an extra HD TV idle, it would be nice to have a multiple-screen system.
