I taught a friend a few days ago to register Twitter and then show each other.

My friend asked, what are you going to do next?

I said, you can send a message.

Me: No.

Twitter is such a strange thing, but its functions are simple. There are no more than a few interfaces in total, and a programmer can complete it in just a few months. However, it is called the best network application after Flickr, and many foreign media such as the BBC and guardian are competing to log on to it. Even Google plans to acquire it for hundreds of millions of dollars.

As a social networking tool, what does Twitter bring? Let's take a look at the existing social networking tools.

If we want to say that online social tools cannot be mentioned, Im, such as MSN and QQ, may be hundreds of millions of users, with a huge impact. Im provides the following features:

1. Check the status of friends at any time. The seemingly simple function reduces the chance of disturbing the other party when the other party is not appropriate, which increases the Communication success rate accordingly.
2. This makes it possible to deal with multiple people at the same time. imagine a scenario where one person receives three calls at the same time. Im allows users to deal with more people at the same time, which is undoubtedly an improvement in productivity.
3. There is almost no cost. It is cheaper than almost any previous communication methods, greatly reducing the cost of communication.

Increasing efficiency and reducing costs are the fundamental driving force for the popularization of any tool. With the above features, it is not surprising that Im can become popular in the world.

The communication pipeline has been established, and it does not solve the problem of installing Im in the channel. Imagine your experience in using any im tool,

I am afraid most of my friends who can keep in touch for several years are friends who love to talk nonsense. Im is the same as external communication. When there is no topic, only talking nonsense can keep people in touch.

Failure to find a topic directly leads to an increase in communication costs. More and more people hope to avoid ineffective communication after half a day, but it is a coincidence that Im is too easy to interact with each other, as a result, there are various ways to avoid communication. The most common method is to always be busy or simply install offline, and some strange names such as "the ActiveX control on this page is insecure, these measures undoubtedly hit the role of IM in social networking.

Im has made different attempts to solve the topic issues.

First, it is a simple function-personal message. Im allows everyone to add a piece of information after the name to express their current situation, such as "today is really tired ", people who see it can initiate communication based on this, so the topic appears. The problem with personal messages is that the timeliness is very poor. It may take a few days for someone to ask a question, or someone who is interested in writing but has never been interested in it.

Another attempt is a group. The essence of the group is "we have something in common. Let's talk about it together", such as Che youhui and fellow students. The Group was always very dynamic at the beginning of its creation, but soon the topic of the group was over, and everyone went back to the embarrassment of having no topic. Just like the image of the gecko, which is common in the QQ group, all of them are hanging and don't talk. I often see none of them. A joke tells me that all people are pretending to be absent.

Im may not have changed much, but it will not die, and it will not decline. Just like a mobile phone, even if it is not played out, no one will call it, because someone else needs to know that you are here.
