The following describes how to display VLC notifications on Ubuntu 14.04.
First, open VLC, select preferences to go to the following interface, and select display settings in the lower left corner.
Then go to the control interface menu and check LibNotify to prompt the plug-in.
Then we open the secondary menu on the control interface and set the timeout value in the prompt options. Save the settings.
