Install VMWare experience on the basis of my Surface 3 & Win10.
The reason to emphasize that Surface 3, not other notebooks, is because I'm worried that it's not performing enough to support virtual machines, so I haven't installed the virtual machine software on Surface 3.
Today, with a try attitude, but also because the learning needs to install virtual machine software VMware.
A total of 4 versions were tried, namely:
1) vmware-workstation-full-7.1.4-385536
2 vmware-workstation-full-10.0.3-1895310.exe
3 vmware-workstation-full-11.0.0-2305329.exe
4) vmware-workstation-full-12.0.0-2985596
The following are explained separately:
1) This is the lowest version, basically the WIN10 cannot be installed. Because of the installation to the last, it often causes the WIN10 system to crash.
The popup system is being restarted due to an error and is collecting a blue screen such as error messages.
Even if you try a few more times, it's hard to install successfully, but when you turn on VMWare, it still goes wrong.
2) The version that is used on the desktop, the process of installing Ubuntu 14.10 does not show any problems.
After installation, the system can also be connected to the Internet, but the following dialog box appears when installing VMWare Tools:
The VMware Tools installation cannot be started manually while a simple installation is in progress. Determine
Finally, manual installation of VMWare Tools can be successful. The method is to load the Linux.iso into the virtual machine and copy the VMWare Tools package to the desktop.
You need to use the following command line for manual installation: sudo./vmware-install.pl
3) After installing Ubunta 14.10 with this release, there are no issues with installing VMWare Tools.
But can not access the Internet, this is a frustrating phenomenon. Find a number of solutions on the Internet, have not reached the goal of solving the problem.
4) Finally, in a very helpless situation, decided to go online to find a new version of VMware, see if you can solve the two problems: VMWare Tools installation and Internet.
Finally, 12 versions of Ubuntu are installed, and it is true that VMWare Tools can be installed properly and the Internet is available. However, the system comes with software updates and always cannot find the available servers.
Above, just a personal installation process, does not mean that every installation is the case.
