Ubuntu Install VMware Workstation

1 Prepare an Ubuntu 16.04 system first

2. Use the multi-threaded download tool axel download from the VMware official address as follows:

$ sudo apt-get install Axel

$ exel-n Https://download3.vmware.com/software/wkst/file/VMware-Workstation-Full-12.1.1-3770994.x86_64.bundle ( -N option specifies the number of threads)

3. Give execute permissions and install:

$ chmod +x Vmware-workstation-full-12.1.1-3770994.x86_64.bundle

$ sudo ./vmware-workstation-full-12.5. 5-5234757.x86_64. Bundle (Installation command under normal user)

4. Installing vmware-workstation-12

VMware 12 Pro perpetual license key: 5a02h-au243-tzj49-gtc7k-3c61n

5. Troubleshoot problems with installation:

On Ubuntu VMware: (vmware-installer.py:3847): gtk-warning *: Unable to find the theme engine in the module path: "Murrine" ...

Workaround:

Installation of 5 components
$ sudo apt-get install Murrine-themes
$ sudo apt-get install Gtk2-engines-murrine
$ sudo apt-get install libgtkmm-2.4-1c2a (one of the libgtkmm-2.4-1v5:i386 kits)
$ sudo apt-get install Libgtkmm-2.4-dev
$ sudo apt-get install libcanberra-gtk-module:i386

Install the Gksu kit again (vmware-xxxx. X86_64.bundle is a graphics program)　　　

$ sudo apt-get install Gnome-tweak-tool

$ sudo apt-get install Gksu

Last used: Gksudo bash./vmware-workstation-full-12.1.1-3770994.x86_64.bundle installation

if VM12 fails in the ubuntu16.04 kernel version for 4.13.0-32-generic installation, you can try the following installation

ubuntu16.04 Installation Vmware-workstation-full-14.0.0-6661328.x86_64.bundle steps:

1. Download vm14 software from vmware website

2. Give execute permissions and install:

$ chmod a+x Vmware-workstation-full-14.0.0-6661328.x86_64.bundle

$ sudo ./vmware-workstation-full-14.0.0-6661328.x86_64.bundle (Installation command under normal user)
