Ubuntu Remote Root Login

The first part, set the root login password

1. Open the command line and enter:

sudo gedit/usr/share/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/50-ubuntu.conf

At the end of the file, add:

Greeter-show-manual-login=true

For example, just save (Ctrl + C), close the popup window

　　　　

2. Go back to the command line and enter:

sudo passwd root

Reset the root password, then restart the virtual machine (reboot)

The second part modifies the configuration file so that the root user can connect remotely

1. Edit the Vim/etc/ssh/sshd_config file to change the value of Permitrootlogin to Yes

　　　　

2. Change Permitemptypasswords to No

　　　　

3. Save, Exit (Wq), restart the virtual machine
