Ubuntu Study Notes (1) Ubuntu hard disk installation

I was using FreeBSD, and I always thought that FreeBSD was the best and best system (actually it was .) However, after all, FB is a server version, which provides stability and security. However
It is a personal workstation, but it is useless. Configuring individual terminals is not a common problem. Compile and install the video card, enable the sound card, but it is still uncomfortable to use, the most important thing is to shut down...
After shutdown-H, you need to manually shut down = !.
So I have been looking for a cool, dazzling, easy-to-use, and easy-to-configure system... In group 7176213 (Linux becomes an advanced group), I am recommended to use ubuntu.
I decided to use the information I queried online. I liked it when I used it. It's easy to install and configure the machine. One APT is all done, especially 3D effects... Who said that manual download is required for Linux?
Cannot install cool?
Next, we will configure our ubuntu.
I. Install Ubuntu on Hard Disk
I used Ubuntu 8.1. I checked the hard disk installation on the Internet, which is basically the same.
1. Download grub4dos and search for it at gougou.com...
Decompress grldr and menu. lst In the compressed package to drive C.

Modify menu. lst and add the following lines.
Title install Ubuntu
Kernel/vmlinuz boot = Casper iso-Scan/filename =/ubuntu. ISO Ro quiet splash locale = zh_CN.UTF-8
Initrd/initrd.gz

Some tutorials include root (hd0, 0), which is completely unnecessary.

Or you don't know where to add it. You can delete all the content in menu. lst and copy the following content:
Color black/Cyan yellow/Cyan
Timeout 30
Default/Default

# Root (hd0, 0)
Title install Ubuntu
Kernel/vmlinuz boot = Casper iso-Scan/filename =/ubuntu. ISO Ro quiet splash locale = zh_CN.UTF-8
Initrd/initrd.gz

After changing the downloaded image name to ubuntu.iso, then decompress vmlinuzand initrd.gz to drive C. The online tutorial says that. Disk and caspter should also be decompressed, which is completely unnecessary. The installation is successful because I have not decompressed the package.
Finally, modify boot. ini and add the following line:
C: \ grldr = "Install Ubuntu"
Then restart.

After the installation is started, select install Ubuntu to start the installation. After the desktop is started, there is a shortcut for installation on the desktop. It is very easy to open it.
This step is the focus, and you will find that there is no partition. I used to be stuck here. In many tutorials, ubuntu. ISO must be in a USB flash drive. This is not the case at all.
If no partition exists, press CTRL + ALT + F2 to enter the command prompt, and then press sudo umount-L/isodevice to return to the installation interface by pressing CTRL + ALT + F7, just move back. The rest is simple.

After the installation is complete, go to the desktop and you will find many updates. Don't think Ubuntu has more updates than XP. This is because we have installed the VCD version, and many things have not been installed. The network is fast, so update it.
