Ubuntu Tutorial: Shut down or restart Ubuntu to confirm

For new Ubuntu users, there are many new things to learn, but many tutorials on the Internet are not for new users. Here, we are not on the road. It cannot be said that all the tutorials are for beginners, but at least most of them are.

Ubuntu always configures a dialog box, prompting you whenever you want to shut down, restart, or log out.

This is a protection measure to prevent you from mistakenly shutting down or restarting your instance if you do not intend to do so.

Not everyone wants to be asked every time they shut down. Busy friends may make their computers so awake, because they execute the close command, but forget to confirm the damn dialog box.

This tutorial will guide you how to avoid that dialog box every time you shut down.

When this feature is activated, you will receive the following prompt.

Are you sure you want to close all programs and shutdown your computer?

Run the following command to turn it off.

Press Ctrl-Alt-T on the keyboard to open the terminal. Then tap the following command

Gsettings set com. canonical. indicator. session suppress-logout-restart-shutdown true

That's easy. You will no longer be harassed by the damn confirmation dialog box.

To restore the dialog box, click the following command.

Gsettings set com. canonical. indicator. session suppress-logout-restart-shutdown false
