The shared folder of VirtualBox 4.1.16 needs to access the files on the host in the Virtual Machine due to experiment on VirtualBox in the past few days. I don't know how to set it, and I am too lazy to read the instructions, I searched for some items on the Internet, but all I said on the internet is for the lower version of VirtualBox, what is "Data Space"..., However, the VirtualBox 4.1.16 I used does not have any "Data Space" at all. I only read the instructions of VirtualBox honestly. By the way, I understood several concepts.
VirtualBox extension package (File Name: Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-4.1.16-78094.vbox-extpack), used to expand the VirtualBox feature, provides the following additional features: l support USB 2.0 device www.2cto.com l VirtualBox Remote Desktop Protocol (VRDP) l Intel PXE boot ROM installation double-click the downloaded Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-4.1.16-78094.vbox-extpack, VirtualBox Manager boot complete extension package installation view start VirtualBox Manager, click "manage"-"global settings"
In the "extension" tab, you can view the currently installed extension package and add/Delete the extension package VirtualBox enhancement package. After the operating system is installed on the virtual machine, to optimize the performance and availability of the virtual machine operating system, you need to install the enhancement feature package, which contains the device driver and system application. The VirtualBox enhancement package is a CD image file (named vboxguestadditions. iso) located in the VirtualBox installation directory.
The Enhanced Function package provides the following functions: l shared file l shared clipboard content l seamless window-achieve smooth movement of the mouse between the VM and the host l automatically log on to install www.2cto.com to install the VirtualBox Enhanced Function package, start the VM first.
To install the enhancement package in VirtualBox instructions, click "device"-"Install enhancement" to load the ISO file of the enhancement package to the virtual machine, and automatically start the installation, but using this method on my virtual machine does not load the ISO file of the enhancement package, I don't want to understand! So I am using the following method:
Click "device"-"Assign Optical Drive"-"select a virtual disc" to open the "select virtual disc" dialog box.
Find the VirtualBox installation directory, select VBoxGuestAdditions. iso, and click "open"
Click "Run vboxwindowsadditions.exe" to install the enhanced function. (If you do not have a manual dialog box, you can enable virtual light drive in the ultimate computer, find vboxwindowsadditions.exe, and double-click to install it) Select the component to be installed (Direct3D is experimental, I did not select), and then restart the virtual machine to activate the enhanced. Update the new version of the enhancement package will update the enhancements of the virtual machine. The shared folder www.2cto.com uses the "shared folder" feature of VirtualBox (the enhancement package needs to be installed) to access files on the host from the VM. To configure a shared folder, take two steps: Step 1: Specify the folder to be shared on the VM (that is, create a shared folder) Step 2: mount in Virtual Machine to access the content in the shared folder (mapped to the network drive) Step 1: Specify the folder to be shared on the VM (create a shared folder) (1) for a running Virtual Machine, click "device"-"shared folder" (or right-click the folder icon in the lower right corner of the virtual machine status bar and select "shared folder").
Open the "Settings (shared folder)" dialog box
(2) For non-running virtual machines (virtual machines that are normally shut down cannot be "fast sleep" virtual machines, you cannot specify a shared folder to right-click on the virtual machine, select "Settings"
Open the "Settings" dialog box and select "shared folder"
For running and closed virtual machines, we can see that the types of shared folders that can be created are different: l for virtual machines running-shared folders with fixed and temporary allocations can be created l for closed virtual machines-only shared folders with fixed allocations can be created for virtual machines with shared folders defined is permanent; temporary shared folders are added/deleted when the virtual machine is running. After the virtual machine is disabled, the shared folders with a fixed allocation disappears (the steps for creating temporary shared folders are the same)
Click "add shared folder"
Specify the path of the shared folder (the path of the folder on the host)
Click "Others" to select the host folder to be shared with the Virtual Machine
After the selection is complete, click "OK" www.2cto.com
If you are not satisfied with the default shared folder name, you can modify the name of the shared folder. Step 2: mount the shared folder in the virtual machine to access the content of the shared folder (ing the network drive). There are two ways to mount the Shared Folder: l automatic mounting l manual mounting is a little effort-consuming. Let's take a look at manual mounting. My virtual machine is installed on Windows 7, I will take Windows 7 as an example to describe how to first enable "network discovery" and "file sharing" on Windows 7 and "printer sharing" and click "start"-"Control Panel".
Click "change advanced sharing Settings"
In network discovery, select enable network discovery. In file and printer sharing, select enable file and printer sharing. use the net use command to open the Command Prompt window, enter net use x: \ vboxsvr \ sharenamex: The drive letter to be used. The sharename is the name of the shared folder set when adding the shared folder. Note: set x: replace sharename with the corresponding name. I did not replace sharename with the name of the added shared folder. An error occurred all the time ...... Khan)
Open the Virtual Machine "computer" and you can see the shared folder, so that you can access the specified host folder from the virtual machine.
Enable "computer" on the VM using the graphical interface
Click "ing network drive"
Select the drive letter and click "Browse" and select the shared folder www.2cto.com.
Click "OK". You can see the shared folder in the "computer" of the virtual machine, so that you can access the specified host folder. Manual mounting is troublesome. VirtualBox provides the "automatic mounting" function, to simplify the procedure. When adding a shared folder, you only need to select "auto mount" and start or restart the VM. The shared folder is displayed and accessed in the VM.
You can also manually or automatically mount the shared folder temporarily allocated. Conclusion: VirtualBox's shared folder enables you to access the host folder from a VM. From the above operations, we can see that the "shared folder" of VirtualBox actually creates a virtual vboxsvr server and considers the added host folder as a shared folder on the virtual server vboxsvr, then access the VM by ing the network drive.
