Iii. Experience: Compile and install mplayer 1.0pre5 from source code
From: http://yangchengkai.blogchina.com/blog/refer.177855.html

Mplayer/gmplayer is a media player widely used in Linux! However, since it is generally released in the format of tarball, the installation is relatively BT, many friends are looking for the rpm version, but different rpm versions often cannot customize many features by themselves, for example, Chinese support and so on, and it is easy to cause RPM package dependency problems, so many friends finally love and hate mplayer... -_-!!
In fact, it is not difficult to compile mplayer by yourself, but the process is troublesome. However, the installation steps of tarball are basically followed. There are already many articles on this article, sir, I am not going to post this article to sir, and I will stay here to share with you... :)
First, download the tarball of the latest mplayer, I .e. 1.0pre5:
Download the decoder package. Generally, you only need to download the essential codes. To enable rmvb, you need the reallib decoder. I usually use xine to put rmvb:
There are also mplayer font files:
In this case, you do not need to download Chinese fonts in "Other fonts". You can use simsun. TTF to replace them later.
Of course, you also need to download the skin file for gmplayer:
We recommend that you use default blue or neutron. Of course, you can also download other skin.

We first CP all downloaded files to the/opt/directory, and then start the specific installation steps.
1. First install the decoder:
Tar-jxvf essential-20040916.tar.bz2
Tar-jxvf rp9codecs-20040626.tar.bz2
CP-RF rp9codecs-20040626/* essential-20040916/
Music Video essential-20040916/usr/lib/Codes
The above command installs the decoder package to/usr/lib/codes. In fact, the decompressed directory is Ren & mv.

2. Compile and install mplayer:
Tar-jxvf MPlayer-1.0pre5.tar.bz2
CD MPlayer-1.0pre5
. /Configure -- enable-Gui -- With-codecsdir =/usr/lib/codecs -- with-win32libdir =/usr/lib/codecs -- With-reallibdir =/usr/lib/codecs -- language = zh_cn

The preceding parameters are described as follows:
-- Enable-Gui: supports opening graphical interfaces, that is, gmplayer.
-- With-codecsdir =/usr/lib/codecs: Specifies the decoder directory.
-- With-win32libdir =/usr/lib/codecs: Specifies the location of the media file decoder directory for Windows
-- With-reallibdir =/usr/lib/codecs: Specifies the location of the decoder directory of the real media file, which must be specified when you use gmplayer to place rmvb.
-- Language = zh_cn: set the system interface language to Chinese.
Before configure, run./configure -- help to view the supported feature settings. You can select the settings based on your needs. The above is just the most basic.

Make
Make install

3. Install the font file:
Tar-jxvf font-arial-iso-8859-1.tar.bz2
Music font-arial-iso-8859-1 // usr/local/share/mplayer/font/
CD/usr/local/share/mplayer/font/
If your system has been beautified by simsun
Ln-s ***/simsun. TTF subfont. TTF
Note: ** here refers to the specific location of simsun. For the sake of security, we recommend that you ~ /. Make the same link in mplayer.
If the system has not been beautified, try
Ln-S/usr/share/fonts/zh_cn/TrueType/gbsn001p. TTF subfont. TTF
In this way, Chinese subtitles are handled.

4. Install skin:
Super simple: extract the skin package and then MV it to/usr/local/share/mplayer/skin. Note that there must be a skin called default, otherwise gmplayer cannot run.

OK. Now all work is finished. Run gmplayer/mplayer to check it. Enjoy it! :)

PS: If you use xine, you can set the codes directory in setup to be the same as that in mplayer, which can save the space between them.

5. Install the NVIDIA driver Driver:
Download: http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_ia32_1.0-4363.html
Installation:
Enter Level 2, init 2
Configuration: in/etc/X11/xf86config
Load 'nv 'to load 'nvidia'
Load 'dri' to load 'glcore'

In text mode:
# Vim/etc/X11/xf86config
Find driver "NV" and change it to "NVIDIA"
Remove load "dri"
Load "glcore"
Save and exit, then go to x Desktop
You can see the NVIDIA screen.
