VMware 6.5 + fedora9-embedded Linux development environment

1. Install VMware Workstation:

Download VMware workstation6.5 and decompress the package to obtain this file:

Double-click it to display the installation interface:

Select next. If you do not need to debug the build, select Custom.

To change the installation directory, click chage:

"Integrated virtual debuggers" is generally not required. The options are as follows:

Select next:

Select install:

Start installation. After installation, enter the serial number:

The serial number of vmware6.5 is given here:

FK4W8-8UD0L-C80FG-4MXZ6 this serial number has a deadline, if prompt expiration, go to Baidu a few new OH ~

Then click Enter and then click Finish:

Prompt to restart the computer, we choose no:

Now, VMWare Workstation has been installed.

There will be icons on the desktop:

For the first running, the following dialog box is displayed. Select Yes, I accept ......

When "Tip of the Day" appears, click Close. You can also remove the check box in the lower left corner:

Finally, go to the main interface of VMware and click "new Virtual Machine" to install the ferdora9 we need:

 

2. Install fedora9 in VMware:

(You can use the downloaded ISO file: Fedora-9-i386-DVD.iso)

The first step is to set some pre-installation settings:

After clicking "new Virtual Machine", there are two options: Typical and custom:

Typical is better, but sometimes errors occur. You 'd better choose typical installation first.

Next we will introduce their installation processes:

A) typical: (click Next directly if you haven't mentioned it)

When you see this interface, select your fedora installation CD or the downloaded ISO file path: (if you see the yellow warning in the figure, ignore it, it does not affect Installation and Use)

Select the system to be installed: Linux, and version: Other Linux 2.6.x kernel (for a 64-bit host, select other Linux 2.6.x kernel 64-bit ):

You can modify the Virtual Machine name and the installed location:

Modify maximum disc size. 20 GB is enough for development:

Click Next to go to the last page of setup. Click Finish:

Go to the fedora9 installation interface and press enter to continue (many of the following operations are completed with a keyboard, and the mouse does not work ):

Select SKIP:

All the way to next until the network is set:

To use a static IP address, click Edit in, enter the desired IP address and subnet mask, and then return to enter the gateway and DNS in miscellaneous settings. If not, click Next:

Enter the root user password twice and continue next... select write changes to disc:

The following error may occur:

Cause and solution: (there are other solutions online, but they do not work for my servers)

Select custom when creating a VM (follow the custom installation steps below) and then select IDE (SCSI by default) when selecting a hard disk) the reason is that SCSI needs a driver to read the hard disk normally.

 

This process takes a while, and then select the installation type as follows:

Select servers on the left and set the right:

Start to install the system. This process is very long:

After installation, Click Reboot to restart the system:

Click forward or continue, click Finish, and select:

The logon page is displayed! Enter root and Click Log in:

Enter the password you just set:

This prompt is displayed every time you log on to the user using the root user. Click "continue" every time:

Drag the terminal to the desktop:

In this way, fedora is installed and can be used. O >_< O ~ Xi

B) Select fedm to install fedora9:

Next, similar to the typical installation process, you can directly click Next in different places. You can see the following picture and select the memory capacity of the Virtual Machine. Be sure not to exceed the memory of the Host:

Set the network connection mode of the VM:

Next, let's take a look at the typical type installation process and choose next from other different places. We can see all the attributes we have previously set for the virtual machine:

Click Finish to go to the installation interface of Fedora:

Then, the installation process of the typical type continues.

Other questions:

Warning:

The partition table on devices SDA was unreadable. To create new partition it must be initialized,

Causing the loss of all data on this drive.

This operation will overide any previous installation choices about which drives to ignore.
