Describes how to configure the desktop pools. In the Horizon view environment, 3 types of desktop pools are supported:
· Automated Pool
· Manual Pool
· Terminal Services Pool
These three desktop pool models are the three types of desktop pools that Horizon view can choose from, representing the different ways in which technology is implemented and the efficiency of space utilization and generation.
First, here's how to configure the automated Pool, with the following steps:
1 first, the source desktop that will be ready in part11 is turned on, the optimization is completed (optimization can be done using the optimization script provided by VMware), execution of the ipconfig/release as shown, releasing its IP configuration information, and then shutting down and executing the snapshot:
2 , in Vcenter Server right-click > Snapshot > Snapshot Manager > Take a new Snapshot, soon the system generates a snapshot as shown in:
3 , then, log in to view Administrator Console > Inventory > Pools > Add to prepare to add a desktop pool:
4 , in the window shown in open, select automated Pool. So what is automated pool and what is it good for? To put it simply, let's say we have 500 users, but we don't want to generate 500 desktops, then we can use automated pool to generate on demand:
5 , when selected, the next step will encounter 2 options, one is dedicated, one is floating two user allocation mode, each of the benefits are:
· Dedicated- indicates that when a user logs into this desktop pool and gets a desktop, the desktop will be dedicated to this user
· floating-floating means that the user randomly gets a desktop when logged on, automatically returns to the desktop pool after logging off, usually for business needs such as public user presentation Systems
6 , with the allocation pattern above, click Next to go to the next step. In the next step, you can choose between two modes, one is linked clone, the other is full clone, and linked clone has the advantage of: Suppose we have 500 virtual desktops, each 20GB of disk space, the normal situation should be consumed 20gb* 500, space consumption is very expensive, then, if the choice of linked clone mode, then its space consumption will be greatly reduced, this, from which you can see why:
PS : As you can see, after the Linked Clone Desktop pool is generated, it generates a complete replica on the original base image, as shown in.
7 , after understanding, click on the view Composer linked clones shown, select available Vcenter Server, as shown in:
8 , click Next, enter the pool ID, Display name, and view folder as shown:
9 , after going to the next step, there is a set of options for this pool, as shown in:
General Options
· state-enable or disable the pool .
· Connection Server Restrictions- This option restricts the pool to use only the specified VCs
Remote Policy Settings Options
· Remote Desktop Power Policy- This option indicates how power is handled after the user logged of or disconnected desktop, supporting power OFF , Suspend, always Powered on and doing nothing
· automatically Logoff after Disconnect- This option indicates how often you log off the virtual desktop after Logoff the virtual desktop, support: Log off immediately, log off within the specified time
· allow users to reset their desktop- This place is yes or no, allows the user to reset the virtual desktop
· Refresh OS Disk after Logoff- This option, if activated, automatically returns the VMDK to the initial state equivalent to recompose, which is used with caution
Remote Display Protocol Options
· Default display Protocol- Here you can choose either RDP or PCoIP or both in parallel to indicate the remote display protocol used by the user's default login
· allow users to Choose Protocol- This indicates whether the user is allowed to select the remote display protocol on demand, select Yes or no
· windows 7 Rendering- This option is for the Aero theme of Windows 7 and above, and after activation, you need to select a larger VRAM for this virtual desktop
· max number of Monitors- This option can be a maximum of 4
· Max Resolution of any one monitor-how much resolution and pixels a monitor
Adobe Flash Settings for Remote Sessions Options
· Adobe Flash Quality- choosing lower quality saves bandwidth, sacrificing display performance
· Adobe Flash Throttling- This option is used to limit frames per second, the more agressive consumes compute resources, but saves bandwidth
The above series of parameters can be set on demand;
Ten , in the next provisioning settings option, you can set the name format of the virtual machine, such as: vmf-lc{n:fixed=2} In this example, as shown in:
Since we are a test system, the Pool sizing has chosen fewer desktops on this side;
One , the following is the configuration View Composer Disks page, configure for view Composer disk, you can configure persistent disk to hold user profile (desktop, My Documents and other configuration information), The advantage is that the corresponding user profile will not be destroyed when recompose these desktops, and of course, if the configuration uses Persona management do not consider this thing:
A , in the next storage optimization option, you can select storage tiering and store different types of disks on demand to ensure performance, as shown in the user's choice:
- , in the subsequent vcenter settings, select the parent VM, Snapshot, VM folder location, Host or cluster, Resource pool, datastores, as shown in:
- and then it's a very important point. Guest customization, this option is an important factor in ensuring that the virtual desktops are built differently, and that you can choose domain, choose to use Quickprep, or Sysprep, as shown in:
the , click on Next, the system will finally prompt to confirm the relevant configuration, if not correct tick entitle users after the This wizard finishes option
