    • Describe

Common VMware virtual machines should encounter this situation, that is, the installation of VMware, at startup, there will be a yellow box under the "USB disabled ..." prompt. When the system is installed in the virtual machine, everything is fine. In addition to inserting the USB device does not set the outside! To the local computer services to view the VMware USB service, the display is "automatic", but did not start automatically, when manually prompted "VMware USB Arbitration service does not start, error 31: The device connected to the system does not work" , reloading a virtual machine or even reloading a computer won't solve the problem.

1. Workaround One:

This method is not validated because the ATI driver is not installed

1) Go to "Add Remove Programs" in the Control Panel of Windows
2) Locate "ATI Catalyst Install Manager" and right click to select Change
3) Select Next
4) Select "Uninstall Manager" and select Next
5) Select Custom, then select Next
6) Then there will be three options, in "Select Components to Uninstall", select "USB filter"
7) Finally, the next download is OK. Then go to the system service manually start the VMware USB to see if it can start normally!

2. Workaround II:

This method has been verified, but the USB filter and%system32%\drivers\ USB in the hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\ Service s\ Filter.sys was not found, but the problem can be resolved.

Note that in order to ensure security, the UpperFilter key value can be renamed, no need to delete

Start-run-enter Regedit to open the Windows registry and find:
hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\control\class{36fc9e60-c465-11cf-8056-444553540000}.
Deletes the value of the UpperFilter.
Found it:
Hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\ Service s\
Remove the USB filter. (But this step is not possible)
Remove%system32%\drivers\ USB Filter.sys
You should be OK after rebooting the system.
