Today, colleagues asked about how to replicate a configured VM, I studied, in fact, this function is very useful. The main methods are as follows:
1. Select Create Virtual machine
2. This is a key step, choose custom (Create a virtual machine using another device or a specific configuration option)
3. Give the virtual machine a loud name
4. Select the target storage of the virtual machine file, the default, direct "Next"
5. Select the version of the virtual machine, the general host or cluster support multiple VM versions (4, 7, 8), we choose the appropriate for their own, such as mine is 5.5, so choose Version 8.
6. Select the guest operating system of the virtual machine (this depends on the VM you want to clone or backup)
7. Select the number of virtual CPUs in the virtual machine, the default can be, direct "next"
8. Select the virtual machine memory size, default, direct "Next"
9. Set up the network for the virtual machine, select the number of virtual network cards that the VM needs to use and the adapter. Default, direct "Next"
10. Select the virtual machine SCSI controller. Default, direct "Next"
11. This is a very important step, select the type of disk to use, we select "Use existing virtual disk, reuse the previously configured virtual disk"
12. Select the existing disk (disk file path), that is, which disk you want to use as the virtual disk, select Browse, select Datastore, and then locate the VMDK format file for the virtual machine. Next
13. Specify advanced options for virtual disks, which normally do not need to be changed, by default, direct "Next"
14. Click "Finish".
