Create a virtual desktop pool

Step 1: Open the View console, go to "Inventory à Pools", and click "Add…" on the right ...".

Step 2: select the virtual desktop Pool type as "automatic Pool ".

Description:

N Automated Pool: computers in the desktop Pool are automatically generated on the vSphere platform.

N Manual Pool: the computers in the desktop Pool are physical machines or other virtual machines.

N Terminal Services Pool: the computer in the Pool is a Microsoft Terminal Server.

Step 3: Select "Dedicated" as the user allocation method and select "Enable Automatic Assignment ".

Description:

Dedicated: Permanent desktop pool, which is used to manually allocate computers in the desktop pool to users.

Dedicated and select Enable Automatic Assignment: Permanent desktop pool. The system automatically assigns a desktop pool to the user, that is, the user who uses the computer for the first time is the user of the computer.

Floating: A non-permanent desktop pool is a Dynamic Desktop pool. Computers in the desktop pool are allocated to users dynamically in fraction, and users do not occupy the virtual desktop permanently.

Step 4: Set the virtual desktop generation mode to "View Composer lined clones"

Description:

N Full Virtual Machines: Fully cloned, slow and will consume a lot of storage space.

N View Composer Linked Clones: Clone through the Composer link, which is fast and saves nearly 70% of storage space.

Step 5: Set the pool identification information

ID: Unique ID of the pool. It cannot be the same as other pools. Display Name: the Name of the pool to which the user connects.

Step 6: Set the pool parameters and click "Next" by default ".

Step 7: set the size of your data disk and incremental Disk

Persistent Disk: Persistent Disk, which stores user data and user configuration files.

Disposable File Redirection: A non-persistent disk that stores the incremental data of the operating system.

Step 8: Link clone settings

Enable Provisioning Settings.

Set the name and quantity of the desktop pool generated by Link clone.

Step 9: Set the vCenter of the pool

Select the computer and snapshot template, VM folder, vSphere host, and resource pool.

Select the virtual storage location after the link is cloned. Do you need to set Hierarchical Storage.

Step 10: Set the adcontainer to VM Computers. The generated virtual desktop is automatically placed in the OU of VM Computers.

Click "Finish" and the system will automatically send the command to vCenter to generate a virtual desktop.

Step 11: The Link cloning process is an automated process without manual interference. When Composer generates a virtual desktop, it first copies the template computer into a copy of replica as the parent image, and then generates other virtual desktops through the parent image.
