German Volkswagen and Google today confirmed that the Volkswagen website (www.vw.com) violates Google's website quality guidelines, including the use of layer-7 technology to hide text to cheat search engines.
The cause of the incident and Google's enterprise division published a blog last week on Google's official blog to provide on-site search services for Volkswagen. however, it was soon discovered by netizens that there were many suspected frauds on the site's homepage. this includes the improper Meta tag and the use of technology to hide text on the page. the specific code used is as follows:
<Div class = "invisibleContent"> Volkswagen of America presents U. s. vehicle information, pricing, incentives, deals, comparisons on Eos, GTI, Jetta, New Beetle, New Beetle Convertible, Passat, Passat Wagon, Touareg, Rabbit, r32 and the GLI with links to VW dealers, owner information, Volkswagen merchandise, and VW accessories. homepage, volkswagen, volkswagon, v1_com, home, landing, top, upper, home page, home, top, back, VWofAmerica, Volkswagen of America, Volkswagon of America, VWoA, VWofA, volkswagon.com </div>
After the incident was exposed, Google and Volkswagen had to come forward today to acknowledge that the incident had occurred. currently, vswitchcom has deleted the above cheating code. however, Google does not impose any penalty on vswitchcom according to its own rules. prior to this, a similar incident occurred in BMW, Germany, and was removed from the index results by Google for violation of the google quality guide, however, due to BMW's rapid public relations, it eventually restored the normal indexing of related sites on Google.
At present, webmasters of some websites are highly disgusted and resistant to google's practices, because Google does not (as required) block the search results of Volkswagen and BMW in its search engines, this is an extremely unfair approach.
